Monitoring species abundance and distribution is a prerequisite when assessing status population viability, difficult task to achieve for large herbivores at ecologically meaningful scales. Co-occurrence patterns can be used infer mechanisms of community organization (such as biotic interactions), although it has been traditionally applied binary presence/absence data. Parasites play a key role in regulating wildlife population dynamics, but their impact on the host appears to be context-dependent. Evidence indicates that synergistic interaction between stress, condition and parasites is implicated this phenomenon, more studies are needed better understand context-dependency. Abstract Species occurrence depends on both environmental and biotic factors (species interactions). Consideration of species interactions when estimating functions population distribution is unusual, may be crucial to understand predict how use space resources. In this study, we combine resource selection probability ( RSPFs ) with a model approach based information theory evaluate (interspecific interactions) abiotic (environmental) affect guanacos L ama guanicoe livestock (goats, sheep,...

A total of 111 samples (43 faeces and 79 gastrointestinal tracts) 14 wild carnivore species from 12 Argentine provinces were analyzed. Helminth eggs identified in 73% the faecal adult worms recovered 81% tracts. We found 19 helminth species. Among most frequent findings parasites domestic carnivores, namely Toxocara canis, cati, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma caninum, tubaeforme Uncinaria stenocephala. In addition, new hosts are reported for 6 nematode 5 recorded first time Argentina:...

Diversity and biomass of Chironomidae larvae were studied between January-November 1993 March-November 1994 in an impacted lagoon Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil, attempt to establish the ecological consequences anthropogenic eutrophication processes. Nine hundred seventy-five organisms belonging Tanypodinae, Orthocladiinae, Chironominae collected. Polypedilum (62%) Chironomus (58%) most common genera found limnetic littoral zones.
