Two new genera and three species of troglobitic trechine beetles are described illustrated from the eastern part Wuling Mountains: Xiangxius jiangi n. gen., sp. Guizhaphaenopsodes solidior limestone cave Tangle Dong (Jishou, western Hunan Province); Sinotroglodytes hefengensis Qizimei (Hefeng, southwestern Hubei Province). is a highly modified cave-adapted beetle with elongate body appendages, recognized by its peculiar elytral shape remarkable dorsal marginal umbilicate pores elytra. for...
Two highly modified new species of cave-adapted trechine beetles are described from Guizhou Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region: Sinaphaenops (Sinaphaenops) chengguangyuani n. sp. (Guizhou: Longli: cave Shuijing Dong), belonging to the banshanicus group genus Uéno & Wang, 1991; Giraffaphaenops brevicephalus (Guangxi: Leye: Dalongguan being third Deuve, 2002, with a shorter but broader head than its congeners. Keys identify provided respectively.
Ckacus youcha n. gen. & sp. is described and illustrated based on a single male discovered in the deep area of Luoshui Dong, vertical cave Anlong Xian, southwestern most Guizhou Province, Southwest China. This new genus seems related to Bathytrechus Uéno, 2005 from Leye northwestern Guangxi by its elongate body which wholly pubescent, tridentate right mandible well-striated elytra with 1st interval extremely narrowed at apical 1/3, but differs several important characters. In addition,...
Three new species of the genus Guiodytes Tian, 2013 are described from limestone caves Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, southern China: weii Huang & Faille sp. nov. and yueliangensis Tian Dapo Dong caves, respectively, in Huanjiang County, northernmost Guangxi; inexpectatus Zhou Zhuzhu cave Longzhou southwestern Guangxi. All six known endemic to Guangxi, ranging southwest northernmost. A modified key a distribution map for provided.
The ground beetle genus Hexachaetus Chaudoir, 1871 is re-defined and reviewed. Bearing six setae on ligula no more considered as a crucial characteristic for Hexachaetus. Members of share the following combination morphological features: body polish, smooth, impunctate, or less dilated at apex, bearing 4, 6, even 12 apically, prosternal process unbordered elytra distinctly obliquely truncated with apical inner angles very sharp in most species (except H. mulan n. sp.), interval 3 anterior...
Abstract The 15th UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) (COP15) will be held in Kunming, China October 2021. Historically, CBDs and other multilateral treaties have either alluded to or entirely overlooked the subterranean biome. A effort robustly examine, monitor, incorporate biome into future conservation targets enable CBD further improve ecological effectiveness of protected areas by including groundwater resources, ecosystem services, profoundly endemic subsurface biodiversity. To...
Animal life in caves has fascinated researchers and the public alike because of unusual sometimes bizarre morphological adaptations observed numerous troglobitic species. Despite their worldwide diversity, cave millipedes (Diplopoda) to a lifestyle have rarely been examined. In this study, characters were analyzed species belonging four different orders (Glomerida, Polydesmida, Chordeumatida, Spirostreptida) six families (Glomeridae, Paradoxosomatidae, Polydesmidae, Haplodesmidae,...
Abstract Feeding experiments using three strains of entomopathogenic fungi, Beauveria bassiana , Metarhizium anisopliae and Isaria fumosorosea were conducted with newly moulted 3rd–5th instar Ocinara varians Walker larvae in the laboratory. The mortality immersed individually spore suspension (1 × 10 7 spores/mL) all was ≥ 80% except 5th treated M. which transformed into pupae, but did not result adult emergence. growth (total body mass), consumption, relative consumption rate rate, reduced...
