Actinic keratosis is a common precursor to sun-related squamous-cell carcinoma. Treating actinic keratoses and the surrounding skin area (i.e., field therapy) can eradicate clinical subclinical keratoses. Topical therapy currently requires weeks or months of treatment. We investigated efficacy safety new topical for keratosis, ingenol mebutate gel (0.015% face scalp 0.05% trunk extremities). In four multicenter, randomized, double-blind studies, we randomly assigned patients with on...

• Each year, it is estimated, more than 500,000 new cases of nonmelanoma skin cancer develop.1-3The majority these cutaneous neoplasms are treated by various modalities that include excision,4-6electrodesiccation and curettage,7-9cryosurgery,10,11and irradiation,12,13with greater 90% success.3,14,15Certain the remaining primary tumors, as well recurrent carcinomas, present a demanding therapeutic challenge. The process of wound healing can be divided into substrate, proliferative, and remodeling phases. basic biologic physiologic events which transpire during these stages are examined in detail. Particular emphasis is placed on the interactions between platelets, macrophages, other inflammatory cells, fibroblasts wound. Recent advances roles played by interleukins, fibronectin, epidermal growth factor discussed.

There is evidence suggesting a role of eicosanoids in the growth certain tumors. In this study, tissue samples were collected from basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) and squamous (SCCs) skin. Both BCCs SCCs contained more prostaglandin E2 F2 alpha (PGE2 PGF2 alpha) than normal epidermis. vitro incubation tumor with arachidonic acid also resulted PGE2 formation. Basal exhibiting histologically aggressive pattern higher levels prostaglandins those nonaggressive pattern, both vivo after incubation....

It remains questionable whether micrographic surgery with frozen sections is an appropriate technique for excision of melanoma in situ (MIS) the lentigo maligna type. Advocates have interpreted MIS as being histologically defined by nests and contiguous atypical melanocytes on basal layer. Others, however, viewed periphery consisting scattered single melanocytes, a finding that may be difficult or impossible to establish sections. To examine reliability using experienced Mohs' surgeon,...

Abstract. Fibrous tumors of the soft tissue are usually benign, but some fibrous neoplasms such as dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), atypical fibroxanthoma (AFX), and malignant fibrohistiocytoma (MFH) can be very destructive locally with a high recurrence rate after local excision. On occasion, they metastasize. Previous reports have confirmed success Mohs micrographic surgery for treatment DFSP, data been lacking on potential benefit this surgical approach MFH AFX tumors. Abstract. Two cases of treatment site granulomatous reaction to Zyderm Collagen Implant that occurred in spite a negative skin test are reported. A delayed hypersensitivity ZCI is suggested by the clinical time course and histologic findings granulomas. Humoral immunity also implicated since elevated anti‐Zyderm serum antibodies plasma cell infiltrates present. Resolution signs symptoms over several months with no treatment. The physician using should be aware this rare adverse reaction.
