Anaemia was present in 20 per cent of 113 consecutive admissions to a geriatric unit. This microcytic 8 and macrocytic 11 cent. Sixteen patients had folate deficiency (low red-cell folate). Fourteen with dementia significantly lower levels (mean 279 ng/ml) than the group as whole 394 ng/ml).

Factor VIII inhibitor in an elderly female is described with initial failure to respond treatment human and bovine AHG.
