Intermediate-rapidity fragments with $A=1\ensuremath{-}14$ emitted from 42-137-MeV/nucleon Ar + Au have been measured. Evidence is presented that these arise a common moving source. Entropy values are extracted the mass distributions by use of quantum statistical and Hauser-Feshbach theories. The entropy $\frac{S}{A}\ensuremath{\approx}2\ensuremath{-}2.4$ much smaller than expected measured deuteron-to-proton ratios, but still considerably higher theoretically predicted values.
High precision measurements of the differential cross sections for π0 photoproduction at forward angles two nuclei, 12C and 208Pb, have been performed incident photon energies 4.9-5.5 GeV to extract π0→γγ decay width. The experiment was done Jefferson Lab using Hall B tagger a high-resolution multichannel calorimeter. width extracted by fitting measured recently updated theoretical models process. resulting value is Γ(π0→γγ)=7.82±0.14(stat)±0.17(syst) eV. With 2.8% total uncertainty, this...
Transmission electron microscopy has been used to study the microstructural features associated with void swelling resistance in FV448 martensitic stainless steel after fast reactor irradiation damage levels of 30 dpa at temperatures range 380-460 °C. A characteristic feature microstructures is presence domains which high pre-irradiation network dislocation density eliminated, and replaced by a homogeneous population interstitial loops ⟨100⟩ Burgers vectors. These grow but remain...
Because of their long lifetimes, the ω and ϕ mesons are ideal candidates for study possible modifications in-medium meson-nucleon interaction through absorption inside nucleus. During E01-112 experiment at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, were photoproduced from 2H, C, Ti, Fe, Pb targets. This Letter reports first measurement ratio nuclear transparencies e+e- channel. The ratios indicate larger widths compared with what have been reported in other reaction channels. meson is...
This review paper describes the energy-upgraded Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) accelerator. superconducting linac has achieved 12 GeV beam energy by adding 11 new high-performance cryomodules containing 88 cavities that have operated cw at an average accelerating gradient of <a:math xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><a:mrow><a:mn>20</a:mn><a:mtext> </a:mtext><a:mtext> </a:mtext><a:mi>MV</a:mi><a:mo>/</a:mo><a:mi...
The photoproduction of vector mesons on various nuclei has been studied using the CLAS detector at Jefferson Laboratory. mesons, ρ, ω, and ϕ, are observed via their decay to e+e−, in order reduce effects final-state interactions nucleus. Of particular interest possible in-medium properties ρ meson. mass spectrum is extracted from data nuclei, 2H, C, Fe, Ti. We observe no significant shift some broadening consistent with expected collisional for meson.Received 20 July...
The emission of intermediate rapidity fragments with A\ensuremath{\le}14 has been studied in 42 to 151 MeV/nucleon Ar- and Ne-induced reactions on Al, Ca, Au targets. energy spectra were fitted assuming from a single source moving velocity between that the projectile target. extracted temperatures independent fragment mass, indicating had common source. for as heavy nitrogen also well described using coalescence model resulting radii mass. observed production cross sections quantum...
The light vector mesons ($\rho$, $\omega$, and $\phi$) were produced in deuterium, carbon, titanium, iron targets a search for possible in-medium modifications to the properties of $\rho$ meson at normal nuclear densities zero temperature. detected with CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) via their decays $e^{+}e^{-}$. rare leptonic decay was chosen reduce final-state interactions. A combinatorial background subtracted from invariant mass spectra using well-established event-mixing...
The explicit breaking of the axial symmetry by quantum fluctuations gives rise to so-called anomaly. This phenomenon is solely responsible for decay neutral pion π0 into two photons (γγ), leading its unusually short lifetime. We precisely measured width Γ [Formula: see text] process. differential cross sections photoproduction at forward angles were on targets, carbon-12 and silicon-28, yielding text], where stat. denotes statistical uncertainty syst. systematic uncertainty. combined results...
Beam-recoil transferred polarizations for the exclusive $\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{e}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{e}^{'}{K}^{+}\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{\ensuremath{\Lambda}},{\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}}^{0}$ reactions have been measured using Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility's large acceptance spectrometer (CLAS) at Thomas Jefferson National Facility. New measurements completed beam energies of 4.261 and 5.754 GeV that span a range...
\ensuremath{\beta}-decay half-lives have been measured for eight neutron-rich isotopes produced by bombardment of a $^{181}\mathrm{Ta}$ target with an $^{18}\mathrm{O}$ beam at 30 MeV/nucleon. The previously unknown $^{14}\mathrm{Be}$ (4.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.7 ms) and $^{17}\mathrm{C}$ (202\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}17 obtained along the $^{9}\mathrm{Li}$, $^{11}\mathrm{Li}$, $^{12}\mathrm{Be}$, $^{14}\mathrm{B}$, $^{15}\mathrm{B}$. This experiment represents first half-life...
In today's business environment, multiple organizations must routinely work together in software supply chains when acquiring, developing, operating, and maintaining products. The programmatic product complexity inherent increases the risk that defects, vulnerabilities, malicious code will be inserted into a delivered product. As result, effective management is essential for establishing supply-chain assurance over time. Software Engineering Institute (SEI) developing systemic approach...
Four years into the mission, understanding of performance Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) and data analysis have increased enormously since launch. Thanks to a careful flight data, we were able trace back some most significant sources systematic uncertainties using non-optimal calibration constants for detectors. In this paper report on major effort within LAT Collaboration update these constants, use them reprocess first four raw investigate improvements observed low- high-level analysis....
