Abstract Aging is a complex process influenced by genetic, epigenetic, and environmental factors that lead to tissue deterioration frailty. Epigenetic mechanisms, such as DNA methylation, play significant role in gene expression regulation aging. This study presents new age estimation model developed for the Turkish population using blood samples. Eight CpG sites loci TOM1L1, ELOVL2, ASPA, FHL2, C1orf132, CCDC102B, cg07082267, RASSF5 were selected based on their correlation with age....

Microhaplotypes have become a new type of forensic marker with great ability to identify and deconvolute mixtures because massively parallel sequencing (MPS) allows the alleles (haplotypes) multi-SNP loci be determined directly for an individual. As originally defined, microhaplotype locus is short segment DNA two or more SNPs defining three haplotypes. The length enough, less than about 300 bp, that read current MPS technology can produce phase-known sequence each chromosome part discovery...

Ancestry inference for a person using panel of SNPs depends on the variation frequencies those around world and amount reference data available calculation/comparison. The Kidd Lab 55 AISNPs has been incorporated in commercial kits by both Life Technologies Illumina massively parallel sequencing. Therefore, larger set populations will be useful researchers kits. We have added population allele 52 samples to 73 previously entered so that there are now publicly ALFRED FROG-kb total 125 samples.

Abstract Inferring ancestry and physical characteristics of an unknown individual can contribute to the direction investigation clarify event for contributors, cold cases or identification missing persons disaster victims. The objective this study is develop a custom SNP panel on massively parallel sequencing devices predicting biogeographic phenotype individual. We focused two‐tier approach enhance ancestry. Our MPS contains two informative (AISNPs) panels (i.e., Kidd 55 SWA panel)...

Many different published sets of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and/or insertion-deletion (InDels) can serve as ancestry informative markers (AIMs) to distinguish among continental regions the world. For a focus on Southwest Asian we chose start with Kidd Lab panel 55 ancestry-informative SNPs (AISNPs) because it already provided good global reference data (FROG-kb: frog.med.yale.edu) in set 73 population samples distinguishing at least 8 biogeographic clusters populations. This...

The set of 55 ancestry informative SNPs (AISNPs) originally developed by the Kidd Lab has been studied on a large number populations and continues to be applied new population samples. existing reference database samples allows relationships inferred global level. Analyses show that these autosomal markers constitute one better panels AISNPs. Continuing build this enhances its value. Because more than half 25 ethnic groups recently with AISNPs are from Southwest Asia Mediterranean region, we...

Abstract In forensic science, the demand for precision, consistency, and cost‐effectiveness has driven exploration of next‐generation sequencing technologies. This study investigates potential Oxford Nanopore Sequencing (ONT) Technology analyzing HIrisPlex‐S panel, a set 41 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers used to predict eye, hair, skin color. Using ONT sequencing, we assessed accuracy reliability ONT‐generated data by comparing it with conventional capillary electrophoresis...

One of the rapidly developing areas in human genetics and genomics is detection candidate Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNPs) for complex traits. These findings can be used field forensics predicting externally visible characteristics (EVCs) a given individual based on sample DNA alone. Eye colour currently most thoroughly investigated EVC forensic genetic applications. In this study, eye prediction performance two available major methods was assessed set 100 individuals from Turkey by...

Abstract Oculocutaneous Albinism type 2 ( OCA2 ) is a gene of great interest because genetic variation affecting normal pigmentation in humans. The diverse geographic patterns for variant frequencies at have been evident but not systematically investigated, especially outside Europe. Here we examine population and near the from worldwide perspective. very different found across world regions suggest strong selection effects may work over time. For example, analyses involving variants that...
