Background Dual-energy CT allows virtual noncontrast (VNC) attenuation and iodine density measurements from contrast material–enhanced examination, potentially enabling adrenal lesion characterization. However, data regarding diagnostic performance remain limited, combined values have never been investigated. Purpose To determine whether VNC attenuation, density, combination of the two allow reliable differentiation between adenomas metastases. Materials Methods This retrospective study...
Background: The human visual and somatosensory systems are interdependent. Using a subjective body-midline (SM) judgment task, we previously confirmed that pathologic pain deafferentation can modify visuospatial perception, indicating altered experience perception. Conversely, in the present study investigated whether change perception of pain. Methods: We used prism adaptation (PA) to subjects9 experience. Five patients with complex regional syndrome (CRPS) adapted wedge prisms,...
Spatial perception is achieved by integrating multisensory information. Using visual subjective body midline (vSM) judgments in patients with unilateral limb pain (complex regional syndrome [CRPS]), we found that their vSM deviated toward the affected side; however, deafferentation of caused a transient decrease and shift deviation unaffected side. Our results indicate persistent state CRPS distorts visuospatial perception.
Background The development of an accurate, practical, noninvasive, and widely available diagnostic approach to characterize lipid-poor adrenal lesions (greater than 10 HU at unenhanced CT) remains ongoing demand. Purpose To investigate whether combined assessment portal venous phase CT allows for the differentiation adenomas from nonadenomas. Materials Methods Patients with who underwent a single-energy scanner between January 2016 March 2020 were identified retrospectively. For each lesion,...
Background Unenhanced dual-layer spectral-detector CT may facilitate adrenal lesion characterization; however, no studies have evaluated its incremental diagnostic yield for indeterminate lesions (unenhanced attenuation >10 HU) in comparison to that with conventional unenhanced CT. Purpose To determine whether spectral analysis improves characterization of lipid-poor adenomas from nonadenomas compared mean and histogram images. Materials Methods This retrospective study included patients who...
Photograph-based visual scoring has been used for evaluation of facial morphological changes. Here, we describe a three-dimensional computed tomography (3D-CT) method objective analysis and intra-facial (subcutaneous) The effects massage were examined using both methods.Subjects 12 healthy female volunteers without scars or deformation (age 30-54 years, mean 39.4 years). massage-induced changes was done at the nasolabial folds, upper, lower lateral cheeks eyelids. For 3D-CT evaluation,...
A 70-year-old man with abdominal pain and high fever was referred to our hospital because of suspected branch duct intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm pancreatolithiasis. Laboratory results showed a total bilirubin 4.7 mg/dL, slight elevation in the serum pancreatic enzyme level marked C-reactive protein white blood cell count. Plain computed tomography (CT) mild swelling pancreas 10-mm calcified stone head ([Fig. 1]). Due presence obstructive cholangitis pancreatitis, endoscopic...
Objective To evaluate the optimal virtual monochromatic energy in dual-energy computed tomography for differentiating between infarcted areas and normal brain parenchyma. Methods We enrolled 29 patients with middle cerebral artery acute infarction of who underwent examination by tomography. calculated contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) white or gray matter area (CNR(W-I) CNR(G-I), respectively) normalized CNRs. From CNRs, we assessed which gave best balance The 70-keV images were used comparison....
Objective This study aimed to evaluate virtual monochromatic images (VMIs) obtained using dual-layer dual-energy computed tomography (CT) for breast carcinoma. Methods We retrospectively enrolled 28 patients with cancer who were pathologically diagnosed CT. Virtual (40–200 keV) generated. compared CT number, image noise, contrast, and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) between VMIs the highest CNR conventional images. performed qualitative analysis at optimized energy Results Image noise of was...
The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between renal cortical retention (RCR) contrast media observed on delayed CT (median delay: 20 h) and associated nephropathy (CAN). We investigated incidence both phenomena in 270 patients. CAN defined as an increase creatinine level > 0.5 mg dl-1 (44 mumol l-1) 25% day 1, 3 or 7, while RCR recognized when values for cortex showed either mild (CT value 50) severe 100). demonstrated 127 patients (47%), 78 (29%) 49 (18%), after angiography....
The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between renal cortical retention on delayed CT and contrast medium-associated and/or transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE)-associated nephropathy following TACE. authors reviewed findings 180 treatments in 121 patients with normal serum creatinine levels who underwent TACE for liver tumours. Nephropathy defined as an increase level greater than 0.5 mg dl−1 (44 µmol l−1) 25% days 1, 3, 7 or 14 post Renal recognized when values cortex...
To test our hypothesis about whether there is water migration in the horizontal corneal plane and investigate its developmental mechanism.A fluorescein solution was intrastromally injected into normal edematous corneas of rabbits, movement observed recorded over time.In corneas, flow characterized by a swirling from center to periphery stroma. The ultimately spread occupied entire cornea, indicating intracorneal water. In contrast, when endothelia were injured intracameral injection...
