The Early Palaeozoic was an important period in the geologic evolution of South China block (SCB), marking intracontinental orogen Wuyi-Yunkai region. One salient feature western SCB is absence oceanic subduction-related magmatism. Here, we report first known occurrence Late Ordovician andesites from Shimian area, SCB. Zircon SHRIMP U–Pb dating reveals that formed at ca. 451 Ma. They have geochemical features high-Mg adakitic andesite (HMAA) and are characterized by low K2O (1.09–2.24 wt.%)...

We report the oldest I-type granites in Lengshui Complex of Yangtze Craton, providing new insights for its tectonic evolution during Neoarchean. An approach-combined study zircon U-Pb dating and Lu-Hf isotopes, as well whole-rock element geochemistry Nd were employed. LA-ICP-MS monzogranite sample LSG03 LSG16 yielded ages 2732 ± 13 Ma 2738 25 Ma, respectively. The more precise age was taken crystallization monzogranite. These rocks have high SiO2 (73.11–74.01 wt%), K2O (3.93–5.48 Na2O...

Paleoproterozoic granitoids provide crucial constraints on the tectonic evolution of Yangtze Block, South China, and its reconstructed position in Columbia supercontinent. Here, we report zircon U–Pb age Hf–isotope data coupled with whole-rock geochemistry for monzogranites from Lengshui complex (LSC) Zhongxiang Terrane northern Block. Zircon dating yields crystallization ages 2039 ± 36 Ma 1950 16 two monzogranite samples, respectively. Both samples show S-type granite affinities. The older...

The Huashan Group preserves Neoproterozoic volcanic‐sedimentary sequences in the northern Yangtze Block and is an ideal target for determining provenance characteristics of sedimentary basins Precambrian crustal evolution Block. Here, we report LA‐ICP‐MS detrital zircon U–Pb–Hf isotopes from four metamorphic clastic rock samples Group. Detrital zircons ages yield major peaks at ca. 2,670, 2,040, 940, 840 Ma five subordinate greater than or equal to 2,850, 2,490, 1,840, 1,600, 1,240 Ma....

The palaeogeographic positions of South China in the Rodinia and Gondwana supercontinents have long been controversial. We report petrological, detrital zircon U-Pb geochronological, trace element geochemical Lu-Hf isotopic compositions for metasedimentary rocks from Shigu Group Zhongza Terrane, SW China. has regarded as Precambrian basement comprises mainly a suite medium-/low-grade metamorphosed terrigenous clastic rocks. youngest age population two rock samples bottom yields weighted...

During the Early-Middle Proterozoic era, three major lithostratigraphic unit associations, namely Hekou-Dahongshan, Dongchuan, and Kunyang-Huili Groups, were established for metamorphosed volcanic-sedimentary rocks exposed in southwestern Yangtze Block (SWYB). The integration of petrology, geochemistry geochronology constrains tectonic framework evolution SWYB, which four sets SHRIMP U-Pb zircon ages obtained from volcanic interbedded within Middle successions: 1800–1600 Ma, 1600–1300...

Detrital zircon U–Pb ages and Lu–Hf isotopes of three metasandstone samples from the recently identified Caiziyuan‐Tongan accretionary complex (CTAC) in southwestern Yangtze Block are presented. The detrital zircons characterized by high Th/U ratios, oscillatory zoning, nonabrasive crystal shapes, implying that these metasandstones CTAC were dominantly derived proximal magmatic sources. age spectrum shows prominent intervals 2.8–2.6 Ga, 2.5–2.2 2.1–1.7 Ga with minor dispersions between 3.8...

The zircon provenances of the late Paleoproterozoic metasedimentary rocks are important for assembling Proto-Yangtze and its reconstruction in Nuna supercontinent. We present a dataset involving 363 detrital U-Pb dating 165 Hf isotope analyses from Laochanghe Formation Dahongshan Group southwestern Yangtze Block. New ages, combined with heterogeneity sedimentary strata available magmatic age data, suggest that maximum depositional cloud be younger than 1.81 Ga older 1.74 Ga. U-Pb-Hf...

ABSTRACT The Palaeozoic–early Mesozoic Palaeo‐Tethyan evolution was crucial for the formation of present‐day eastern Asia. However, exact timing and mechanism opening main Palaeo‐Tethys Ocean, represented by Longmuco‐Shuanghu‐Changning‐Menglian‐Bentong‐Raub Suture, remain debated. Here, we report U–Pb–Hf isotopes trace elements Late Devonian detrital zircons from Batang area, which exhibit arc‐like geochemical signatures, indicating strong continental arc magmatism in North Qiangtang...
