ABSTRACT In statistics, samples are drawn from a population in data‐generating process (DGP). Standard errors measure the uncertainty estimates of parameters. science, evidence is generated to test hypotheses an evidence‐generating (EGP). Adding peer‐review stages reduces NSEs....

Experimental asset markets with a constant fundamental value ( FV ) have grown in importance recent years. A methodological examination of the robustness experimental results such setting which has been shown to produce bubbles, however, is lacking. In laboratory experiment 280 subjects, we investigate whether specific design features are sufficient influence results. detail, (1) vary visual representation price chart, and (2) provide subjects full information about process. We find...

We present a natural field experiment to examine if priming can influence behavior in market for credence goods. 40 testers took 600 taxi journeys Vienna, Austria, and using between-subject design we vary the script they spoke, each designed prime either honesty, dishonesty, or competitor. find that honesty increases fares by 5.5% relative baseline, result of overcharging rather than overtreatment. Priming dishonesty competitor have no impact on fares. effects are likely be small compared...

Credence goods markets with their asymmetric information between buyers and sellers are prone to large inefficiencies. In theory, poorly informed consumers can protect themselves from maltreatment through by gathering second opinions other sellers. Yet, field experimental evidence whether this is a successful strategy scarce. Here we present natural experiment in the market for computer repairs show that revealing opinion another expert does neither increase rate of nor decrease average...

Discrimination is an ubiquitous phenomenon in many societies, but little known about its origins childhood. In a framed field experiment, we let 142 three to six-year old preschool children allocate fixed endowment between in-group and out-group receiver two domains (gender group affiliation). prevalent our subjects, since they more than half of their the in-group. The extent discrimination does not differ domains, suggesting that it universal, as opposed domain-specific, trait. Analyzing...
