循環型社会形成推進基本法の成立, 家電リサイクル法の施行等によって, 使用済み耐久消費財のリサイクル・適正処分等が求められてきている。これらの対策を計画するうえで, 使用済み製品の発生台数の信頼度の高い将来予測が必要になる。本研究では, 出荷台数, 保有台数, 使用年数分布から将来の使用済み耐久消費財の発生台数を予測する方法を提案した。予測に必要となる保有台数の経年変化はロジスティック関数, 使用年数分布はワイブル分布関数を用いてそれぞれ解析を行うとともに, それらの結果を用いて, 乗用車と全自動車, およびテレビ, エアコン, 冷蔵庫, 洗濯機, 掃除機, 電子レンジ, VTRの7種類の家電製品の2020年度までの使用済み製品の発生台数を予測した。また, エアコンを例に平均使用年数が変化した場合の予測を行い, 提案した方法の有用性を示した。

Several kinds of melt-quenched Al–Mn alloys were prepared by a single roller method in order to investigate the structure-sensitive physical properties. 電気・電子製品23品目について, 家庭と事業所の保有状況のアンケート調査に基づいて, 使用年数分布の推定と2003年度から2008年度までの使用済み台数の推計を行った。その結果, 平均使用年数が長い品目には家電4品目などの比較的高価で古くから普及している品目が多く, 短い品目にはノートPCなどの比較的小型・中型で近年普及が進んでいる品目が多いこと, 他製品へ代替が進行中の品目を除いた22品目について使用年数分布の幅の狭さを示すパラメータbを平均値2.4で近似できることがわかった。また, 2003年度の使用済み台数は23品目合計で約1億3千万台であり, そのうち携帯電話・PHSが4, 520万台と他の品目と比べて桁違いに多いと推計された。さらに, 情報通信機器の使用済み台数は2008年度までに大きく変化することやVTR, 掃除機などは使用済み台数が回収・リサイクル義務のある7品目と同程度であることがわかった。
