We studied Spodoptera frugiperda development using different food sources in the laboratory and field. Newly hatched larvae were fed soybean, cotton, maize, wheat, oat leaves. An artificial diet was used as control. Duration of pre-pupal, pupal, larva-adult period, pupal weight, sex ratio, survival, larva feeding preferences, oviposition nutritional quality hosts evaluated. Insects on wheat showed shortest period. The insects cotton soybean had longer larval cycles pupae lower weight....

ABSTRACT: Pesticides are considered the first line of defense for control pests and diseases. At least in short medium term, use pesticides will remain an important strategy pest management, allowing growers to produce crops sufficient quality at low costs. A broad approach known as Integrated Pest Management (IPM) combines several different pest-control strategies, among which combination chemical biological stands out. It requires that achieve optimal target with minimal impact on activity...

The moths Spodoptera eridania (Stoll) and cosmioides (Walker) are pests of increasing importance in various grain production systems, causing defoliation damage to reproductive structures plants. This fact underscores the need for studies that analyze nutrition development on different hosts. objective this study was evaluate S. feeding host species. To end, newly hatched larvae were separated individually into waxed cups fed soybean, cotton, maize, wheat, oat leaves, or an artificial diet...

Abstract Chrysodeixis includens (Walker 1858), also known as soybean looper, is a polyphagous pest with increasing economic significance in various crops. The rate of infestation and its distribution can be influenced by feeding through direct indirect effects on their life cycles. Thus, this study aimed to examine the biological characteristics, food preference leaf consumption C. (BRS 284), cotton (FMT 701), sunflower 323) common morning glory leaves ( Ipomoea sp.) possible host plants....
