A monitoring project was implemented in trial sections of the Watang−Rizhao heavy-haul railway. Data were acquired at instrumented track formations and railway retaining wall during 30 passages train operating speeds ranging from 5 km/h to 100 km/h. At formation level, earth pressure cells mounted beneath 10 longitudinally adjacent sleepers, one which installed along with two integrated vibration sensors for vertical acceleration deflection measurements. The different elevations examining...

To study the interface friction and vibration behaviours of brake systems with wheel flat, a rigid-flexible vehicle dynamics model finite element system are developed. These two models validated using experimental test data. Additionally, an analysis formula excited by flat is proposed to reveal tribological behaviours. The results indicate that directly induces elastic disc further affects contact, resulting in significant increase contact force, stress, force acceleration between...

We propose a novel hypocenter localization model based on machine learning in the hope of providing feasible solution for earthquake early warning system (EEWs). The predicts location using time series trigger stations. compare test results three models: 1) random forest (RF); 2) eXtreme gradient boosting (XGBoost); and 3) light (LightGBM). LightGBM is found most efficient thus applied further testing. Moreover, considering difference station between ocean land earthquakes, prediction models...

During vehicle operation, the brake system is influenced by wheel–rail interactions. To investigate dynamic behaviours of system, we propose a novel model considering coupling effects between disc–pad and subsystems. Using established model, nonlinear coupled including adhesion characteristics, wheel–disc torsional vibrations stick–slip were comprehensively explored. The results showed that braking conditions remarkably longitudinal slip rate. wheelset units affect each other, wheels on one...

ABSTRACT Automatic P-wave arrival detection is the first task in an earthquake early warning systems. This study proposes a novel method for this based on fractal slope (FS). We improved calculation of dimension to increase speed and proposed continuous algorithm. Furthermore, we applied FS conjunction with short-term average over long-term (STA/LTA), named STA/LTA + FS. designed orthogonal experiments different parameters selected total 40,020 sets seismic waves from Japanese dataset test...
