Refrigeration systems in industrial food processing plants are large users of electric energy and often show high peak power consumption. Cold thermal storage (CTES) technology integrated into refrigeration can reduce the requirement achieve shifting by decoupling supply demand load. This paper presents design performance a CTES unit consisting pillow plate heat exchanger (PP-HEX) immersed low-temperature phase change material (PCM) as medium. It is one first experimental investigations...
The ZEB Test Cells Laboratory is an experimental facility at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, designed to carry out different types experiments. primary use for testing building envelope systems, either in comparative or calorimetric tests, but given nature equipment test facility, interaction between systems HVAC terminal units can also be tested. Tests on envelope, equipment, technologies general performed. Finally, indoor environmental quality analyses, with without...
An integrated energy system that consists of a centralized refrigeration unit can deliver the entire HVAC&R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration) demand for supermarket. CO2 (R744) is natural refrigerant becoming increasingly popular these units due to significant cost savings, while also being sustainable, safe, non-toxic. This study focuses on fully configuration supermarket in Porto de Mos, Portugal, which was equipped monitored through EU-funded project...
In the present study both experimental measurements and calculation models have been used to investigate practical performance of reflective foils in air filled floor cavities. The laboratory were performed a pivotal guarded hot-box. Both heat flow down through area temperature distribution cavities measured. number amount edge insulation at beams has varied as well environmental conditions. Measured calculated results show good agreement for most tested timber variants.
The field data from an integrated CO2 refrigeration system installed in a supermarket located north of the capital Lisbon was analyzed. goal to demonstrate effect and performance multi-ejectors on operating warm climate. measurement results for with without activating ejectors were compared. It observed that multi-ejector operation had considerable superiority. improved cooling capacity medium temperature stage by 17.4%. active 7.5% less total power consumption compared ejector off mode same system.
Application based technology solution is nowadays preferred to achieve the performance of cooling system configuration at its best. Therefore, benchmarking an essential criterion which would add value optimum design for various applications. In this study, a case study carried out Milk Bar (small supermarket) evaluate potential R744 similar demand and tropical conditions. Field data collected during particular time temperature zone further used develop yearly round HFC plug-in cabinets MT LT...
In this study, a wood-frame window with an integrated exterior solar shading unit has been investigated. Numerical simulations have carried out to quantify the moisture distribution and drying-out rate of construction detail. The compared measured data from ongoing experimental study. results indicate that built-in in wall can lead high levels relative humidity (RH) detail design should be done considering this. Simulations showed unfavourable RH-levels avoided if it is optimally designed....
