The Serranía de los Paraguas is a mountainous region situated in the central part of Cordillera Occidental Colombia. It rises some 2500 m above wet forest and supports high concentration species richness endemism for plants terrestrial vertebrates (amphibians, birds, mammals). In case amphibians, 61 named occurring are recognized literature, which mostly works J.D. Lynch P. Ruíz-Carranza 1990s. During 9-d survey season (19–27 July 2019) on Reserva Natural Comunitaria Cerro El Inglés (one...

The Andean Cordilleras of Colombia, especially the Cordillera Occidental, are among areas with highest diversity Pristimantis frogs in world. Within Serranía de los Paraguas is famous for its high sympatric species frogs. In this study, we investigated acoustic frequency segregation five and syntopic genus inhabiting Serranía. It important to point out that three species' calls described first time: brevifrons, P. ptochus, silverstonei. Our results showed occurs these species. Another...

Abstract Ancestral character-state reconstruction is a powerful method in phylogenetics that can be applied to elucidate the evolutionary history of secondary sexual characters. Here, we surveyed variation and reconstructed ancestral states characters (i.e. dichromatism, vocal slits nuptial pads) for most species-rich genus anurans (Pristimantis) using maximum parsimony, maximum-likelihood Bayesian methods. This study demonstrates at least five independent transformation series account...
