The paper reports the synthesis of carbon nanotubes from ethanol over group VIII (Fe, Co, Ni) catalysts derived corresponding metallocenes. Several unexpected cooperative effects are reported, which never observed in case individual metallocenes such as commonly used ferrocene catalyst Fe(C5H5)2. formation very long (up to several µm) straight monocrystal metal kernels inside was most interesting effect. use trimetal (Fe1-x-yCoxNiy)(C5H5)2 resulted sharp increase yield nanotubes. electrical...

Microwave absorption properties are studied for flexible materials based on periodic gratings made of carbon nanotube (CNT) threads. Resonant is observed by free space measurements in the frequency range from 26.5 to 40 GHz. Materials comprised CNT thread with different periods, a metal backplate, and an intermediate dielectric layer exhibit significant reflection losses (less than −45 dB). The shifts peaks spectra caused changes thickness rotations samples indicate high sensitivity obtained results.

Modification of polyurethane–carbon fibre (CF) interface by grafting carbon nanotubes onto a surface the is reported. The technique allows avoiding mechanical properties deterioration. includes desizing CFs, introduction protective aluminium oxide coating, deposition Fe catalyst and then chemical vapour for nanotube growth. Re-enforced composites were fabricated with polyurethane as matrix. Polymer–fiber estimated through measurement interfacial shear strength (IFSS). It was shown that IFSS...

The composite samples based on double-wall carbon nano tubes and fullerenes followed by laser treatment were prepared. XPS confirmed existence of essential contact between two components the composite. differential charging effect disappears after processing, which induces photopolymerization fullerene clusters. TEM showed close-packed continuous coating cross-linked C60 clusters formed surface irradiation.

Abstract Conical carbon nanotubes were obtained by the method of gas-phase chemical decomposition a precursor on surface catalytic particle suspended in carrier gas stream (also known as “aerosol method”). TEM study at JEM-2010 microscope showed that observed angles vertex cones (apex angles) predominantly 5°, 10°, 15° and 20° regardless presence catalyst inside cone. The analysis apex witnesses have scroll type structure. Two alternative explanations are proposed for formation an...

The paper presents a comparative study of the characteristics lithium iron phosphate positive electrodes with various types commercially available carbon nanotubes – single-walled (SWCNT), double-walled (DWCNT) and multi-walled (MWCNT). Electrochemical cathode materials were investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy galvanostatic charge/discharge measurements. Cyclic stability at current densities was estimated. best are exhibited by SWCNT (advantage over DWCNT discharge...
