We report the application of new elimination Rutherford elastic scattering technique for measurement proton-induced reaction cross sections utilizing stored ions decelerated to astrophysical energies. This approach results in a background reduction factor about 1 order magnitude, enabling first (p, n) section storage ring. Here, channels ^{124}Xe(p,n) and ^{124}Xe(p,γ) have been studied just above neutron threshold energy. The data provide valuable constraints Hauser-Feshbach theory...

Abstract Objective. The Photo Injector Test facility at DESY in Zeuthen (PITZ) is building up an R&D platform, known as FLASHlab@PITZ, for systematically studying the FLASH effect cancer treatment with its high-brightness electron beams, which can provide a uniquely large dose parameter range radiation experiments. In this paper, we demonstrate capabilities by experiments reduced on startup beamline and study potential performance of full simulations. Approach. To measure dose,...

For decelerated bare lead ions at a low beam energy of 10 MeV/u, the x-ray emission associated with radiative recombination (RR) threshold energies has been studied electron cooler CRYRING@ESR GSI, Darmstadt. In our experiment, we observed full pattern by utilizing dedicated detection chambers installed ${0}^{\ensuremath{\circ}}$ and ${180}^{\ensuremath{\circ}}$ observation geometry. Most remarkably, no line distortion effects due to delayed are present in well-defined spectra, spanning wide...

Radioactive nuclei with lifetimes on the order of millions years can reveal formation history Sun and active nucleosynthesis occurring at time place its birth. Among such whose decay signatures are found in oldest meteorites, $^{205}$Pb is a powerful example, as it produced exclusively by slow neutron captures (the s process), most being synthesized asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars. However, making accurate abundance predictions for has so far been impossible because weak rates $^{205}$Tl...

An improved design of a longitudinally sensitive resonant Schottky cavity pickup for the heavy ion storage rings Facility Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe (FAIR) project is reported. The new detector has higher measured Q value ∼3000 simulated shunt impedance 473.3 kΩ. It possible to vary sensitivity with motorized mechanism by inserting dissipative blade during operation based on experimental needs. Apart from lower price tag, features more robust production-friendly mechanical...

We present an experimental and theoretical study of symmetric ${\text{Xe}}^{54+}+\text{Xe}$ collisions at 50, 30, 15 MeV/u, corresponding to strong perturbations with ${v}_{K}/{v}_{\text{p}}=1.20$, 1.55, 2.20, respectively (${v}_{K}$ is the classical $K$-shell orbital velocity ${v}_{\text{p}}$ projectile velocity), as well ${\text{Xe}}^{53+}+\text{Xe}$ MeV/u. For each these systems, x-ray spectra are measured under a forward angle ${35}^{\ensuremath{\circ}}$ respect beam. Target satellite...

Stable $^{205}$Tl ions have the lowest known energy threshold for capturing electron neutrinos ($\nu_e$) of ${ E}_{\nu_e}\ge50.6$\,keV. The Lorandite Experiment (LOREX), proposed in 1980s, aims at obtaining longtime averaged solar neutrino flux by utilizing natural deposits Tl-bearing lorandite ores. To determine $\nu_e$ capture cross section, it is required to know strength weak transition connecting ground state and 2.3 keV first excited $^{205}$Pb. only way experimentally address this...
