In this work, the mechanism of dioxygen reduction catalysed by gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) two electron donors was investigated, i.e., sodium ascorbate and hydroethidine, focusing on potential ROS (reactive oxygen species) formation, such as O2˙- H2O2. According to our results, when AuNPs catalyse O2, are formed only intermediates surface nanoparticles, they unavoidably reduced water, AuNPs. Thus, statement production in presence often reported literature is excessive. The can catalyze...

Abstract Numerous additives are used in the electrolytes of lithium‐ion batteries, especially for formation an efficient solid electrolyte interphase at surface electrodes. Understanding degradation processes these compounds is thus important; they can be seen through radiolysis. In case fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC), picosecond pulse radiolysis experiments evidenced FEC .− . This radical stabilized neat FEC, whereas ring opens to form more stable anions when a solute other solvents, as...

Gold nanoparticles are known to cause a radiosensitizing effect, which is promising way improve radiation therapy. However, the radiosensitization mechanism not yet fully understood. It currently assumed that gold can influence various physical, chemical, and biological processes. Pulse radiolysis powerful tool examine one of proposed effects nanoparticles, such as increased free radical production. In this work, we shed light on consequence ionizing interaction with by direct measurements...

The ability of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) to catalyze reactions involving radicals is poorly studied. However, AuNPs are used in applications where chemical transient occur. Herein, we investigate AuNPs’ catalytic effect on 2-propanol oxidation and acetanilide hydroxylation aqueous solutions under ionizing radiation at room temperature. In both cases, the presence led selective organic radicals, significantly changing products’ composition ratio. Based these observations, stress how activity...

Metal nanoparticles can catalyze reactions involving organic free radicals. From the first studies focused on catalytic reduction of water by radicals until today, oxidation has not received attention. In this work, we present results activity gold in 2-propanol to acetone and acetanilide hydroxylation during radiolysis. A detailed reaction mechanism α-hydroxyisopropyl radical is discussed, explaining increase formation ca. 340% presence nanoparticles. case nanoparticles, a strong effect...
