Many species of Ganoderma exhibit a high phenotypic plasticity. Hence, particularly among them, the morphological concept remains difficult to apply, resulting in currently confused taxonomy; as consequence, geographical distribution range many also very uncertain. One areas with strong uncertainty, far is concerned, Neotropics. It common that names described from other regions, mainly northern temperate areas, have been applied Neotropical species. The aim present study was determine which...

The genus Psilocybe contains iconic species of fungi renowned for their hallucinogenic properties. Recently, also included non-hallucinogenic that have since been shifted to the Deconica. Here, we reconstruct a multigene phylogeny Psilocybe, Deconica, and other exemplars families Hymenogastraceae Strophariaceae sensu stricto (s. str.), using three nuclear markers (nLSU-rRNA, 5.8S rRNA, rpb1). Our results confirm monophyly Deconica within s. str., as well numerous robust infrageneric...

AbstractTwenty-five individuals were studied from four unrelated Mexican Mestizo families with Hb D-Los Angeles. We observed five compound heterozygotes: for S and D, one D β-thalassemia (β0 39 nonsense mutation); 16 S, seven β-thalassemia, while the remaining normal. The S/Hb patients had severe hemolytic anemia, in D/β-thalassemia patient, anemia was similar to that of a heterozygote; therefore, is clinically harmful when it associated S. βS chromosomes Benin haplotype two Bantu family, βD...
