Ultrafine-grained and heterostructured materials are currently of high interest due to their superior mechanical functional properties. Severe plastic deformation (SPD) is one the most effective methods produce such with unique microstructure-property relationships. In this review paper, after summarizing recent progress in developing various SPD for processing bulk, surface powder materials, main structural microstructural features SPD-processed explained including lattice defects, grain...
Strain hardening is a useful mechanism for improving mechanical properties in materials. This study investigates the strain‐hardening behavior of an AA6060 alloy processed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) up to 12 passes. Analysis electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) shows that average geometrically necessary dislocations (GNDs) density increases continually fourth pass and then saturates at value ≈1.85 × 10 14 m −2 . Hollomon Kocks–Mecking–Estrin (KME) analysis are used...
Rolling is one of the most employed industrial processes which can be used at multiple manufacturing stages, allowing different geometries such as plates, rods, profiles, billets, slabs, tubes, and seamless tubes to obtained. However, rolled products develop anisotropy due preferential orientation crystals in rolling direction. Thus, some process configurations processing parameters (e.g., thickness reduction per pass, deformation routes, roll diameters, strain rate) have been proposed deal...
