The aim of this study was to analyze the clinicopathologic characteristics and prognosis signet ring cell carcinoma (SRC) according disease status (early vs advanced gastric cancer) in cancer patients. The prognostic implication SRC remains a subject debate.A retrospective analysis performed using clinical records 7667 patients including 1646 who underwent radical gastrectomy between 2001 2010. A further also after dividing into three groups histologic subtype: SRC, well-to-moderately...

Primary hepatic neuroendocrine carcinomas (PHNECs) are extremely rare, with only about 150 cases having been reported in the English-language literature. Because of rarity PHNECs, its clinical features and treatment outcomes not well understood. Here, we report our experiences PHNECs.We identified patients diagnosed PHNEC analyzed their demographics, baseline laboratory data, tumor characteristics, modalities outcomes.A total 218 consecutive were pathologically confirmed carcinoma. Of these,...

Abstract Background Despite recent advances in studies on the gastric microbiome, role of non‐ Helicobacter pylori microbiome carcinogenesis remains unclear. We evaluated characteristics and metagenomic functions patients with IM. Methods Participants were classified into six groups according to disease status (chronic superficial gastritis [CSG], intestinal metaplasia [IM], cancer) H. pylori‐ infection ( positive negative). The was analyzed mucosal tissues at antrum by 16S rRNA gene...

We have investigated the feasibility of THz time-domain reflectometry for discrimination human early gastric cancer (EGC) from normal region. Eight fresh EGC tissues, which were resected by endoscopic submucosal dissection, studied. Of them, six lesions well discriminated on images and regions correlated with tumor pathologically mapped images. Four parameters could be suggested quantitative EGCs.

Abstract Fusobacteria are associated with colorectal cancer (CRC) and amplified during carcinogenesis. Compared to the adenoma-carcinoma sequence of carcinogenesis, serrated neoplasm has distinct clinical features a different molecular background. We aimed compare gut microbiome between tubular adenoma (TA) sessile adenoma/polyp (SSA/P). Patients TA, SSA/P, or CRC were recruited. Three pieces mucosal tissue obtained from each patient by endoscopic biopsy. 16S rRNA gene pyrosequencing...

Adherent-invasive Escherichia coli (AIEC) has been reported as associated with the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). We aimed to investigate characteristics mucosa-associated E. and clinical significance AIEC in Korean IBD patients. strains were isolated from mucosal tissues 18 Crohn's (CD) patients, 24 ulcerative colitis (UC) 9 healthy controls (HC). Adhesion, invasion, survival assays performed evaluate phenotypic features isolates identify AIEC. The presence virulence...
