The mechanical properties of Ni/Ni3Al monocrystal nanophases with varying temperatures, strain rates, and phase sizes have been studied using molecular dynamics simulation. simulation results show that the primary deformation mechanisms in were slip bands antiphase boundaries at room temperature. studies on effects temperature showed yield strain, strength, elastic module decreased as increased. However, influences rate size high led to increase stress, had no significant influence maximum...

Simultaneous magnetic and electric deflection measurements of rhodium clusters (Rh(N), 6 ≤ N 40) reveal ferromagnetism ferroelectricity at low temperatures, while neither property exists in the bulk metal. Temperature-independent moments (up to 1 μ(B) per atom) are observed, superparamagnetic blocking temperatures up 20 K. Ferroelectric dipole on order 1D with transition 30 K observed. Ferromagnetism coexist measured size range, size-dependent variations that tend be anticorrelated range n =...

Thin-film polyvinylidene fluoride piezoelectric sensors have long been recognized as a promising alternative to traditional metal foil strain gauges in applications where only dynamic or quasistatic signals are of interest. Compared gauges, feature high sensitivity, range, and broad frequency bandwidth. However, transverse sensitivity the sensor is higher than that gauge, making it more difficult isolate particular component deformation mode when host structure under complex loading. In...

This paper presents the design, fabrication, and characterization of a compact current sensor based on magnetostrictive composites resistance strain gauges. Firstly, we designed three kinds sensors with different structures, in which shape giant material (GMM) was cuboid, cylindrical, semi-cylindrical. A set finite element method (FEM) simulations were performed to qualitatively guide design prototypes sensor. It determined that most ideal GMM Secondly, Terfenol-D (TD) powder epoxy resin...

This paper presents a novel non-rigid point set registration method that is inspired by unsupervised clustering analysis. Unlike previous approaches treat the source and target sets as separate entities, we develop holistic framework where they are formulated centroids members, separately. We then adopt Tikhonov regularization with an $\ell_1$-induced Laplacian kernel instead of commonly used Gaussian to ensure smooth more robust displacement fields. Our formulation delivers closed-form...

The Gibbs free energy of formation, ∆Ga, the amorphous phase Cu–Zr-rich Cu–Zr–Al bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) has been calculated over a broad composition region to re-evaluate their thermal stability, based on efficient cluster packing model. It is found that Al–Zr clusters have an important effect stability BMGs with same Cu/Zr content ratio. crystallisation involves both and Cu–Zr clusters. results could be useful for predicting understanding underlying mechanism multicomponent glasses.
