Factors related to long-term surgical outcome of thoracic myelopathy caused by ossification the ligamentum flavum (OLF) have not been fully investigated. To evaluate these factors, authors reviewed medical records obtained in patients who had undergone decompressive surgery for OLF.Thirty-four whom was performed OLF (mean follow-up period 8 years) were recruited. Fourteen underwent simultaneous cervical or lumbar lesions. Patient age, duration symptoms, type, dural adhesion, neurological...
We retrospectively evaluated neurological and other complications related to posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) performed by facet joint excision pedicle screw fixation, in 148 consecutive patients with degenerative disorders. Their mean age at surgery was 59 (19-80) years. The follow-up period 3 (2-6.5) Overall, 91 75 cases were observed. Although no permanent neural damage detected, transient palsy occurred 8% of the cases. Dural tear, partial misplacement, loosening, breakage loss...
Abstract Diamond‐like carbon (DLC) is being considered for widespread clinical use as a surface coating cardiovascular devices. We synthesized fluorinated DLC (F‐DLC) coatings in order to create more hydrophobic with improved antithrombogenicity and flexibility when compared conventional by combining the inertness of films advantage fluorination. The purpose this study was evaluate vitro hemocompatibility vivo biocompatibility F‐DLC medical whole blood model confirmed that platelet loss...
Abstract The first major event when a medical device comes in contact with blood is the adsorption of plasma proteins. Protein on material surface leads to activation coagulation cascade and inflammatory process, which impair lifetime material. Various efforts have been made minimize protein platelet adhesion. Recently, diamond‐like carbon (DLC) has received much attention because their antithrombogenicity. We recently reported that coating silicon substrates fluorine‐doped (F‐DLC)...
Ti-based binary nitride and ternary films were deposited on cemented carbide by the arc ion plating method investigated microhardness, lattice parameter morphology. Micro-Vickers hardness of TiN, CrN, ZrN was 2000, 1400, 1500 HV, respectively. On other hand, nitrides such as (Ti,Al)N, (TiCr)N, (Ti,Zr)N, (Ti,V)N with identical atomic ratio against Ti generally had higher 3100, 3000, 2400 The parameters both (Ti,Al)N (Ti,Cr)N smaller 4.18 4.19 Å. Futhermore, surface roughness ZrN, (TiAl)N,...
The records of 14 patients with malignant or aggressive benign vertebral tumors the thoracolumbar spine who underwent total spondylectomy (TS) were evaluated retrospectively. Total was performed by bisecting affected vertebra through pedicle using fine threadwire saws and removing en bloc posterior procedure alone one-stage anteroposterior combined procedure. Remarkable pain relief ambulation after surgery achieved in all patients. No serious complications occurred. Nerve roots sacrificed...
Study Design. A case report of nontraumatic acute complete paraplegia resulting from cervical disc herniation. Objectives. To describe a rare enlargement herniated in the spine and to outline appropriate management patient with severe spinal cord compression secondary herniation developmental canal stenosis. Summary Background Data. Acute progression myelopathy into is rare. There are only four reported cases No other has described magnetic resonance imaging findings noted before after onset...
