This paper discusses the analysis of voltage disturbance recordings in time-frequency domain and time-scale domain. The discrete short-time Fourier transform (STFT) is used for domain; dyadic binary-tree wavelet filters theory explained with special emphases on data. Dyadic are not suitable harmonic Filter center frequencies bandwidths inflexible, results do give easy insight time behavior harmonics. On other hand, band-pass filter outputs from STFT well associated harmonics thus more useful...

It is shown in this paper that voltage sags experienced by three-phase loads, such as adjustable-speed drives, can be classified into four types. Each sag further characterized a magnitude and phase-angle jump. Relations between fault type, type load connection are presented. The transfer of through transformers discussed. jump directly related to the faulted phase, or phases, at point-of-common coupling fault.

This paper analyzes the characteristic of voltage dips in power systems with special emphasis on unbalanced and electrical components analysis. A generalized dip model is built for all dips, taking into account fault types, transformer types load connections. It shows transformation different dips. The characterization results a so-called remaining complex (a magnitude phase angle shift) balanced as well factor, related to rotating machine contribution source impedance shown that factor...

This paper presents an expert system that is able to classify different types of power events the underlying causes (i.e., events) and offer useful information in terms quality. The uses voltage waveforms distinguishes dips (fault-induced, transformer saturation, induction motor starting) as well interruptions (nonfault, fault-induced). A method for event-based classification used, where a segmentation algorithm first applied divide into several possible events. tested using real...
