Gaia DR2 has provided an unprecedented wealth of information about the kinematics stars in Solar neighbourhood, and highlighted degree features Galactic disc. We confront data with a range bar spiral models both action-angle space, $R_{\mathrm{G}}-v_{\phi}$ plane. find that phase mixing induced by transient structure creates ridges arches local which are consistent data. able to produce qualitatively good match when combined variety pattern speeds, show it is non trivial decouple effects structure.

We study the effects of geontropic vacuum fluctuations in quantum gravity on next-generation terrestrial gravitational wave detectors. If Verlinde-Zurek (VZ) effect proposed Verlinde and Zurek [Phys. Lett. B 822, 136663 (2021).], as modeled 826, 136910 (2022); Li et al. Phys. Rev. D 107, 024002 (2023)], appears upcoming GQuEST experiment, we show that it will be a large background for astrophysical searches observatories like Cosmic Explorer Einstein Telescope.

There is significant observational evidence that a large fraction of galactic centers, including those in the Milky Way and M31, host supermassive black hole (SMBH) embedded triaxial nuclear star cluster. In this work, we study secular orbital evolution binaries these environments, characterize regions morphological properties clusters lead to gravitational wave mergers and/or tidal captures. We show even modest level triaxiality density distribution cluster (an ellipsoid with axis ratios...

The Snowmass report on rare processes and precision measurements recommended Mu2e-II a next generation muon facility at Fermilab (Advanced Muon Facility) as priorities for the frontier. Workshop future program FNAL was held in March 2023 to discuss design studies Mu2e-II, organizing efforts facility, identify synergies with other (e.g., collider). Topics included high-power targetry, status of R&D development compressor rings, FFA concepts experiments (conversion, decays, muonium...

We construct the phase space of a spherically symmetric causal diamond in $(d+2)$-dimensional Minkowski spacetime. Utilizing covariant formalism, we identify relevant degrees freedom that localize to $d$-dimensional bifurcate horizon and, upon canonical quantization, determine their commutators. On this space, find two Iyer-Wald charges. The first these charges, proportional area diamond, is responsible for shifting null time along and has been well-documented literature. second charge much...

We study confining strings in ${\cal{N}}=1$ supersymmetric $SU(N_c)$ Yang-Mills theory the semiclassical regime on $\mathbb{R}^{1,2} \times \mathbb{S}^1$. Static quarks are expected to be confined by double composed of two domain walls - which lines $\mathbb{R}^2$ rather than a single flux tube. Each wall carries part quarks' chromoelectric flux. numerically this mechanism and find that double-string confinement holds for all $N$-alities, except those between fundamental quarks. show that,...
