Testing methods have been developed to determine the dynamic stress–strain responses and failure behavior of an epoxy, Epon 828/T-403, a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) under high-strain-rate uniaxial tension compression conditions. A split Hopkinson bar was modified for tensile low-strength low-mechanical-impedance specimens. An aluminum pressure used compressive responses. pulse-shaping technique employed in both experiments ensure that valid experimental conditions were satisfied....

Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns are being more and utilized in construction of tall buildings bridges. Xiao recently developed a new CFT column system, named as confined concrete tubes (CCFT), validated its excellent load carrying capacity ductility, by static simulated seismic loading tests. This paper reports the impact behavior CCFT stub columns. The responses steel (CCFT) were investigated using high-speed gas gun. Experimental parameters included confinement details speed. Dynamic...

A 25 mm aluminum Kolsky bar is modified to test ultrasoft materials under intermediate strain rates (10-100 s(-1)). In this system, an ultralong loading pulse (5-50 ms) generated using 800 steel striker in combination with a shaper made of 2.5 thick soft rubber. For such long pulses, the traditional data reduction scheme based on gauge measurements not possible. We use laser gap measure deformation sample directly and monitor low amplitude dynamic stresses pair piezoelectric transducers that...

Polymer-bonded explosives (PBXs) are particulate composite materials composed of crystalline explosive grains bound in a relatively soft polymeric binder. It is important to optimize the fracture properties, while still maintaining low sensitiveness and high explosiveness PBX. This paper describes study on properties failure modes PBX by adopting newly proposed dynamic experimentation method — notched semi-circular bend (NSCB) specimen loaded with split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) which...

A new effective model for calculation of the equivalent uniform blast load non-uniform such as close-in explosion a one-way square and rectangle reinforced concrete slab is proposed in this paper. The then validated using single degree freedom (SDOF) system with experiments tests slabs slabs. Test results showed that accurate predicting explosive charge weight stand-off distance to impose given damage level on tested RC especially load. It shown more than conventional SDOF analysis running...

We develop a novel setup based on the split Hopkinson pressure bar technique to test dynamic friction coefficient under impact loading. In setup, major improvement is that end of incident near specimen wedge-shaped, which results in combined compressive and shear loading applied specimen. fact, caused by interfacial between bars. Therefore, when two force histories are measured, can be calculated without any assumptions theoretical derivations. The geometry pairs simple, either cuboid or...

In this paper, two loosely coupled single degree of freedom (SDOF) systems are used to generate pressure-impulse diagrams (P-I) with the flexural and direct shear responses one-way reinforced concrete slabs subjected blast loading. The effect span length height ratio in P-I is investigated. numerical calculation results indicate that a slab tends fail mode if load amplitude high but short duration. It failure relatively low duration long. And might be combination damage dynamic loading...

Abstract Mixed‐mode dynamic fracture behaviour of cast aluminium alloy ZL205A thin plates with narrow U‐notch was studied by split Hopkinson tensile bar apparatus. Specimens different loading angles were designed to realize modes. The same condition maintained during the tests. Recovery specimens show that crack propagates along notch direction. Force–elongation relations angle increasing, force increases while final elongation decreases. Deformation and process observed a high‐speed camera....
