한국의 고속철도에 승객의 안전과 편의를 제공하기 위하여 열차 내에 IT기술 및 센서 기술을 적용한 시스템의 개발을 연구하였다. 내 화장실은 밀폐된 공간으로 외부의 도움이 필요한 상황이 발생하더라도 승객 스스로가 요청하기 전까지 외부에서는 상황을 확인하기 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 화장실 개인의 프라이버시를 침해하지 않으면서도 응급상황 발생 시 센서를 통하여 외부에서 이를 감지하고 조치를 취할 수 있는 개발내용을 정리하였다. 요구사항을 분석하고 통해 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였으며, 테스트 계획을 세우고 모의테스트를 진행함으로써 작동상태를 확인하였다. 개발된 시스템은 향후 화장실뿐만 아니라 다양한 곳에 설치하여 활용이 가능할 것이다.
