We compare different procedures for combining fixed-order tree-level matrix-element generators with parton showers. use the case of W-production at Tevatron and LHC to implementations so-called CKKW MLM schemes using cascades. find that although similar results are obtained in all cases, there important differences.

Heavy-light diquarks can be the building blocks of a rich spectrum states which accommodate some newly observed charmoniumlike resonances not fitting pure $c\overline{c}$ assignment. We examine this possibility for hidden and open charm diquark-antidiquark deducing spectra from constituent quark masses spin-spin interactions. Taking $X(3872)$ as input we predict existence ${2}^{++}$ state that associated to $X(3940)$ by Belle reexamine claimed SELEX, $X(2632)$. The possible assignment...

The effects of angular momentum conservation in peripheral heavy ion collisions at very high energy are investigated. It is shown that the initial quark-gluon plasma should enhance azimuthal anisotropy particle spectra (elliptic flow) with respect to usual picture where only geometrical eccentricity nuclear overlap region responsible for anisotropy. In hydrodynamical terms, entails a nontrivial dependence longitudinal flow velocity on transverse coordinates. This gives rise nonvanishing...

Following the recent confirmation of Z+(4430) resonance with J^{PG}=1^{++}, we have re-examined model S- and P-wave tetraquarks. We propose a `type-II' diquark-antidiquark which shows to be very effective at producing simple comprehensive picture J^{PG}=1^{++} 1^{--} sectors recently discovered charged tetraquarks observed Y resonances. The is still faced unresolved difficulty explaining why some states seem incomplete isospin multiplets.

We propose a new experiment to measure the running of electromagnetic coupling constant in space-like region by scattering high-energy muons on atomic electrons low-Z target through elastic process $$\mu \, e \rightarrow \mu e$$ . The differential cross section this process, measured as function squared momentum transfer $$t=q^2<0$$ , provides direct sensitivity leading-order hadronic contribution muon anomaly $$a^\mathrm{{HLO}}_{\mu }$$ By using beam 150 GeV, with an average rate $$\sim $$...

Light scalar mesons are found to fit rather well a diquark-antidiquark description. The resulting nonet obeys mass formulas which respect, good extent, the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka (OZI) rule. OZI allowed strong decays reasonably reproduced by single amplitude describing switch of qq pair, transforms state into two colorless pseudoscalar mesons. Predicted heavy states with one or more quarks replaced charm beauty briefly described; they should give rise narrow exotic quantum numbers.

We propose that the $Y(4260)$ particle recently announced by BABAR is first orbital excitation of a diquark-antidiquark state $([cs][\overline{c}\overline{s}])$. Using parameters determined to describe $X(3872)$ and $X(3940)$ we show $Y$ mass compatible with picture. A crucial prediction should decay predominantly in ${D}_{s}{\overline{D}}_{s}$. The hierarchy problem and the electroweak data, together, provide a plausible motivation for considering light Higgs emerging as pseudo-Goldstone boson from strongly-coupled sector. In that scenario, rates production decay differ significantly those in Standard Model. However, one genuine strong coupling signature is growth with energy of scattering amplitudes among Goldstone bosons, longitudinally polarized vector bosons well itself. rate double fusion thus enhanced respect to its...

The past decade witnessed a remarkable proliferation of exotic charmonium-like resonances discovered at accelerators. In particular, the recently observed charged states are clearly not interpretable as q-qbar mesons. Notwithstanding considerable advances on experimental side, conflicting theoretical descriptions do seem to provide definitive picture about nature so-called XYZ particles. We present here comprehensive review this intriguing topic, discussing both those and aspects which we...
