In this short note we present comparable loss rates of honey bee colonies during winter 2015/16 from 29 countries, obtained with the COLOSS questionnaire. Altogether, received valid answers 19,952 beekeepers. These beekeepers collectively wintered 421,238 colonies, and reported 18,587 unsolvable queen problems 32,048 dead after winter. This gives an overall rate 12.0% (95% confidence interval 11.8–12.2%) 2015/16, marked differences among countries. Beekeepers in study assessed 7.6% CI...
With numerous endemic subspecies representing four of its five evolutionary lineages, Europe holds a large fraction Apis mellifera genetic diversity. This diversity and the natural distribution range have been altered by anthropogenic factors. The conservation this heritage relies on availability accurate tools for diagnosis. Based pool-sequence data from 2145 worker bees 22 populations sampled across Europe, we employed two highly discriminative approaches (PCA FST) to select most...
Honeybees are of great importance because their role in pollination as well for hive products. The population managed colonies fluctuates over time, and recent monitoring reports show different levels colony losses many regions countries. cause this kind loss is a combination various factors, such the parasitic mite Varroa destructor, viruses, pesticides, management practices, climate change, other stress factors. Having mind that economic aspect honeybee has not been estimated, pioneer...
The presence of the two species Megaselia rufipes (Meigen, 1804) and praeacuta (Schmitz, 1919) (Diptera: Phoridae) was recorded from samples dead honey bee colonies under laboratory conditions during 2017. material taken an apiary in Bitola Region where winter losses 2016/2017 season were estimated at 97%. This first record M. fauna Republic Macedonia. Another that has previously been as a leaf miner pest on chickpeas is praeacuta, but this time when colonies. Both emerged bees.
The honey bee colonony is a complex society which has wide range of behaviors. mostimportant are swarming, colony defense and hygienic behavior. These ethological traits have animpact on the yields significant interests breeders. Therefore theethological characteristics recognized in selection breeding programs. According to thebreeding programs directed reduction swarming behavior andincreased expression aim this research was evaluate thesecharacteristics 100 colonies from four genotypes...
The invasive species Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) H. halys is native for East Asia, and has been present in Europe since 2004. first finding of the pest North Macedonia was 2018 (unpublished data), while monitoring programme this pest, supported by company Socoterra, Bitola, started at 2020 carried out on 9 localities with pheromones aggregation Pherocon – BMSB, Trécé.
