The role of serologic testing for SARS-CoV-2 has evolved during the pandemic as seroprevalence in global populations increased. Infectious Diseases Society America (IDSA) convened an expert panel to perform a systematic review coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) serology literature and construct updated best practice guidance related testing. This guideline is update fourth series rapid, frequently COVID-19 guidelines developed by IDSA.

The rapid pace of name changes medically important fungi is creating challenges for clinical laboratories and clinicians involved in patient care. We describe two sources change which have different drivers, at the species versus genus level. Some suggestions are made here to reduce number changes. urge taxonomists provide diagnostic markers taxonomic novelties. Given instability phylogenetic trees due variable taxon sampling, we advocate maintain genera largest possible size. Reporting...

There is an increased risk of infection in patients with cancer that results higher morbidity and mortality. Several factors can predispose these to infectious complications. Some such include immunocompromised states like neutropenia, allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation, graft-versus-host disease, while others immunosuppressive agents corticosteroids, purine analogs, monoclonal antibodies, other emerging therapeutics CAR T-cell therapy. The NCCN Guidelines for the Prevention...

The Verigene Gram-positive blood culture (BC-GP) assay (Nanosphere, Northbrook, IL) is a molecular method for the rapid identification of organisms and resistance markers directly from bottles. A total 148 VersaTREK REDOX 1 40-ml aerobic bottles demonstrating bacteria were tested. Results compared with those conventional biochemical matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time flight (MALDI-TOF) identifications. We obtained isolates methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)...

that legalization of recreational marijuana is associated with increased traffic fatality rates.Applying these results to national driving statistics, nationwide would be 6800 (95% CI, 4200-9700) excess roadway deaths each year.Despite certain methodological differences, we found an increase similar reported by Aydelotte et al. 4 They 1.8 fatal crashes (equivalent 2.0 fatalities) per BVMT.We concur their opinion changes may not detected immediately after but only a longer time period or...

Abstract Accurate molecular diagnostic tests are necessary for confirming a diagnosis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and identifying asymptomatic carriage severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The number available SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid detection continues to increase as does the COVID-19 literature. Thus, Infectious Diseases Society America (IDSA) developed an evidence-based guideline assist clinicians, clinical laboratorians, patients, policymakers in decisions related...

In a sample of perioperative inpatients from 100 hospitals in the United States, cefazolin was 9-fold less likely be used patients documented β-lactam allergy whereas clindamycin 45-fold more likely.

Abstract Diagnostic testing is a critical tool to mitigate the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic, but molecular capacity remains limited. Rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) that detect SARS-CoV-2 protein antigens (Ag) offer potential substantially expand and allow frequent, large-scale, population screening. Testing simple, rapid (results generally available within 15 minutes), applicable for diagnosis at point of care. However, implementation Ag RDTs requires...
