Mare volcanics on the Moon are key record of thermo-chemical evolution throughout most lunar history1-3. Young mare basalts-mainly distributed in a region rich potassium, rare-earth elements and phosphorus (KREEP) Oceanus Procellarum, called Procellarum KREEP Terrane (PKT)4-were thought to be formed from KREEP-rich sources at depth5-7. However, this hypothesis has not been tested with young basalts PKT. Here we present petrological geochemical study basalt clasts PKT returned by Chang'e-5...
A new natural zircon reference material SA01 is introduced for U‐Pb geochronology as well O and Hf isotope geochemistry by microbeam techniques. The megacryst homogeneous with respect to U‐Pb, isotopes based on a large number of measurements laser ablation‐inductively coupled plasma‐mass spectrometry (LA‐ICP‐MS) secondary ion mass (SIMS). Chemical abrasion dilution thermal ionisation (CA‐ID‐TIMS) isotopic analyses produced mean 206 Pb/ 238 U age 535.08 ± 0.32 Ma (2 s , n = 10). Results SIMS...
Abstract We present new laser ablation (LA)‐multicollector‐inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry detrital zircon U‐Pb age and Hf isotope data of the Triassic sedimentary rocks from eastern western sides Ailaoshan suture in SW China, which separate Indochina South China blocks. Detrital grains Lower‐Middle sequences show single population 280–237 Ma (peak at 254–251 Ma) with mainly positive ε Hf( t ) values (+0.15 to +9.11, ~60%). The Middle samples also contain 273–236 246–242 Ma),...
We present an analytical protocol for in situ U–Pb isotope dating of wolframite series minerals [(Fe,Mn)WO4], the main ore mineral tungsten, by LA-SF-ICP-MS.
To expand the newly developed ARM glasses as reference materials for in situ microanalysis of isotope ratios and iron oxidation state by a variety techniques such SIMS, LA‐MC‐ICP‐MS EPMA, we report Li‐B‐Si‐O‐Mg‐Sr‐Nd‐Hf‐Pb data Fe 2+ /ΣFe these glasses. The were mainly obtained TIMS, MC‐ICP‐MS, IR‐MS wet‐chemistry colorimetric techniques. quality was cross‐checked comparing different or results from laboratories using same technique. All three appear to be homogeneous with respect...
The limitations of underwater acoustic communications mean that the side-scan sonar data an autonomous vehicle (AUV) cannot be transmitted back and processed in real time, which means targets detected time. To address problem, this paper proposes AUV-based real-time detection method for targets. First, describes system operation underwater-target by mounted on AUV. Next, it a processing data, constructing deep-learning-based model, based navigation strip images, together solve three key...
We report the first U–Pb geochronological investigation of schorlomite garnet from carbonatite and alkaline complexes demonstrate its applicability for age determination using laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) due to relatively high U Th abundances negligible common Pb content.
Bastnäsite is the end member of a large group carbonate–fluoride minerals with common formula (REE) CO 3 F·CaCO . This generally widespread and, despite never occurring in quantities, represents major economic light rare earth element (LREE) mineral deposits related to carbonatite and alkaline intrusions. Since bastnäsite easily altered commonly contains inclusions earlier‐crystallised minerals, situ analysis considered most suitable method measure its U‐Th‐Pb Sr‐Nd isotopic compositions....
Bastnaesite, a common accessory mineral in REE ore deposits, is ideal for U–Pb isotopic dating because of its relatively high U and Th contents.
The last decade has seen widespread adoption of triple quadrupole-based inductively coupled plasma–tandem mass spectrometry (ICPMS/MS) technique using a collision/reaction cell in combination with precell bandpass analyzer to measure isotopes otherwise masked by spectral interferences. High-precision isotope ratio analysis containing such would benefit from similar capability on multicollector plasma (MC-ICPMS) platform, but for MC-ICPMS/MS several limitations. To overcome these limitations,...
In situ Lu–Hf geochronology is useful for constraining the evolution of geological systems.
Magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) is an effective method for the of ferromagnetic targets against background magnetic fields. Currently, performance MAD systems mainly limited by geomagnetic noise. Several techniques have been developed to detect target signatures, such as synchronous reference subtraction (SRS) method. In this paper, we propose adaptive coherent noise suppression (ACNS) The proposed capable evaluating and detecting weak signals buried in Tests with real-world recorded show...
Abstract The Paleotethys Ailaoshan Ocean separated the South China and Indochina blocks during late Paleozoic. Uncertainty remains regarding subduction of this ocean—whether it was subducted eastward beneath block or westward block. In study, we present new detrital zircon U-Pb age, Hf O isotope data from Longtan Formation, which recognized to be deposited before ocean closed. Our results show that formation can divided into three units: Unit 1 is distributed west suture dominates area;...
Allanite is a common accessory mineral that generally incorporates considerable amounts of Th, U and light rare Earth elements in its structure, making it useful for situ U‐Th‐Pb geochronology Sm‐Nd isotope measurements. Here, we present ages isotopic compositions nine allanite samples considered as potential reference materials (CAP b , Tara, Daibosatsu, LE40010, LE2808, A007, A011, A012 SQ‐51), with ranging from ~ 2650 Ma to 12 Ma. Our study indicates Daibosatsu LE40010 have relatively...
Three natural geological glasses (andesitic glass OJY‐1, and rhyolitic obsidians OH‐1 OA‐1) of specimen sizes 50–150 g were characterised as reference materials for in situ microanalysis major trace elements, Pb isotope ratios. Utilised techniques include isotope‐dilution analyses by TIMS MC‐ICP‐MS, bulk XRF, ICP‐OES, ICP‐MS, (10–120 μm spot size) electron probe microanalyser, LA‐ICP‐MS LA‐MC‐ICP‐MS. Microanalyses μm) indicate that all three are homogeneous with respect to fifty‐four out...
A new LA-MIC-ICP-MS analytical technique has been developed for the rapid measurement of206Pb/238U zircon age (<1%, 2s) at a high spatial resolution. We show that this can be routinely employed to date U–Pb in small and/or complex zircons, providing powerful tool geochronology.
