Dialysis, including hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis, is initiated when kidney function deteriorates to a glomerular filtration rate below the normal range. In addition, dialysis manages renal failure through diffusion ultrafiltration but does not completely replace function. Conversely, transplantation involves replacing diseased with healthy donor kidney, offering restored improved quality of life (QoL). Herein, this review compares QoL cost-effectiveness versus for patients...
Intensive chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell transplantation is the treatment of choice for patients with hematological malignancies. The objective present study was to evaluate outcomes mainly lymphoma and multiple myeloma after transplant. pretransplant workup consisted complete blood count, an evaluation liver, kidney, lung, infectious profile, chest radiographs, a dental review. For lymphoma, all who achieved at least 25% reduction in disease salvage therapy were included...
Abstract Introduction Bloodstream infections ( BSI s) and central line remain among the major causes of morbidity mortality in transplant recipients because prolonged neutropenia mucosal damage. The objective this study was to determine frequency outcome bacterial fungal isolates from patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant. Materials methods This conducted at Aga Khan University Hospital's bone marrow unit. All who underwent an with matched sibling/parent donor...
Abstract A retrospective clinical and pathological study of 15 cases associated with schistosomiasis drawn from 1920 patients undergoing appendicectomy is discussed. The average age the was 31.6 years a 12:3 male predominance. Hepatomegaly, past or present jaundice, splenomegaly were not observed. One patient had previous history similar right lower quadrant pain for several days. Eighty per cent showed an inflammatory reaction on examination. In remaining 20 no inflammation seen, but there...
Abstract magnified image Synthesis of some novel 2‐{2‐[1‐(3‐substitutedphenyl)‐1 H ‐1,2, 3‐triazol‐4‐yl‐]ethyl)‐1 ‐benzo[ d ]‐imidazole derivatives, by the condensation o‐phenylenediamine with 3‐(1‐(3‐substituted‐phenyl)‐1 ‐1,2,3‐triazol‐4‐yl) propanoic acid and then subsequent reactions different substituted alkyl halides as electrophiles are mentioned. The synthesized compounds were characterized 1 NMR, EI‐MS IR spectroscopic techniques.
Abstract magnified image In this study, a novel series of substituted 4,6‐difluoro‐2‐{2‐[3‐(substituted‐phenyl)‐[1,2,4]‐oxadiazol‐5‐yl]‐ethyl}‐1 H ‐benzo[d]imidazole derivatives were synthesized by condensation 2,4‐difluoro 6‐nitrophenyl amine with 3‐(substitutedphenyl‐[1,2,4]‐oxadiazol‐5yl) propionic acid using 2,4,6‐trichlorobenzoyl chloride in the presence triethyl base. The compounds evaluated for their preliminary vitro antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa , Escherichia...
Abstract We present our initial experience of allogeneic stem cell transplant procedure performed between April 2004 and August 2011 for various haematological disorders. All patients with non-malignant malignant disorders HLA matched donors were selected after pre-transplant workup. Ninety seven underwent the procedure. Most common indications aplastic anaemia in n = 34 (35%), followed by β-Thalassemia major 21 (21.6%) chronic myeloid leukemia 11 (11.3%). Primary graft failure was 2.06%....
The Inferior vena cava (IVC) is the railroad for percutaneous transfemoral electrophysiology studies and catheter ablations of arrhythmias originating from both right left sides heart. vast majority congenital anomalies IVC are asymptomatic often diagnosed incidentally during electrophysiologic procedures. Such may preclude potentially curative ablation or lead to less favorable approaches manage cardiac arrhythmia in such situations. We present challenging case a conventional via femoral...
Wide QRS complex (QRS) tachycardia in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) or flutter treated antiarrhythmic drugs can occur for a variety of reasons and needs careful evaluation appropriate management the patient.
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a progressive and potentially life-threatening disorder. It classified into primary secondary HLH. The objective of our study was to determine the outcome HLH in pediatric adult patients based on HScore treatment modality. We conducted retrospective analysis done from July 2010 June 2020. Variables analyzed included age, gender history death siblings. used for disease classification while clinical laboratory findings which were required fulfill...
Objectives: The heterogenous response to treatment in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) can be attributed largely the difference cytogenetic features identified between cases. Cytogenetic analysis is now routinely used assist patient management, particularly terms of diagnosis, disease monitoring, prognosis and risk stratification. Knowing about profile at time diagnosis important order take critical decisions management these patients. study was conducted determine distribution abnormalities...
Objective . The objective of this study was to evaluate the frequency and outcome graft versus host disease after stem cell transplantation for various haematological disorders in Pakistan. Materials Methods Pretransplant workup patient donor performed. Mobilization done with G-CSF 300 μ g twice daily five day. Standard GvHD prophylaxis methotrexate 15 mg/m 2 on day +1 followed by 10 days +3 +6 cyclosporine. Grading according Glucksberg classification. Results A total 153 transplants were...
Background: The difference in prognosis of adult and childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) can be attributed largely to variation cytogenetic abnormalities with age groups. Cytogenetic analysis is now routinely used assist patient management, particularly terms diagnosis, disease monitoring, risk stratification. Knowing about profile at the time diagnosis important order take critical decisions management patients. Aim Objectives: To determine frequency Pakistani patients ALL have...
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the commonest non-Hodgkin encountered by hematopathologists and oncologists. Management guidelines for DLBCL are developed published countries with high income do not cater practical challenges faced in resource-constrained settings. This report a multidisciplinary panel of experts from Pakistan on behalf three major national cancer societies: Society Medical Oncology Pakistan, Hematology, Clinical Oncology. The aim to develop standardized guideline...
