Carrageenans are sulfated galactans found in certain red seaweeds with proven biological activities. In this work, we have prepared purified native and degraded κ-, ι-; λ-carrageenans, including the disaccharides (carrabioses) disaccharide-alditols (carrabiitols) from seaweed extracts as potential antitumor compounds identified active principle of cytotoxic properties these compounds. Both κ ι-carrageenan, well carrageenan oligosaccharides showed effect over LM2 tumor cells. Characterized...

Lacticaseibacillus (L.) rhamnosus CRL75 is a lactic acid bacterium (LAB) isolated from local dairy products, demonstrating significant adaptation in skimmed milk (FM75). In this context, exhibited high microbial growth (3.63 ± 0.18 log CFU·mL−1), strong acidification (9.20 0.10 g·L−1 acid, and 2.40 pH units), increased viscosity FM75 after 16 h of fermentation. Additionally, LAB strain produces both capsular polysaccharides (CPS+) extracellular (EPS75), contributing to ropy phenotype (>10...

The reaction of reductive amination, widely used for carbohydrates, was reviewed in our lab, especially the context analytical determination carbohydrate enantiomers. The best conditions technique have been evaluated, showing that under optimal working it is possible to use α-picoline borane as a reducing agent instead sodium cyanoborohydride without affecting selectivity or yield. The main reason variation that, presence acetic acid, secondary epimeric products were produced with due an...

The articulated coralline Calliarthron cheilosporioides Manza produces segmented fronds composed of calcified segments (intergenicula) separated by uncalcified joints (genicula), which allow to bend and reorient under breaking waves in the wave‐swept intertidal zone. Genicula are formed when cells decalcify restructure create flexible tissue. present study has identified important differences main agaran disaccharidic repeating units [→3)‐β‐ d ‐Gal p (1→ 4)‐α‐ l (1→] synthesized genicular...
