Abstract Experiments were conducted to compare the fragmentation test with microbond pull-out for determining interfacial shear strength between carbon AS4 fibers and a thermoset matrix consisting of Di-Glycidyl Ether Bisphenol A (DGEBA) resin cured diamine (meta-phenylenediamine, m-PDA) curing agent. The results indicate that, test, diffusion rather volatile m-PDA agent at early stages cure leads low values strengths when compared obtained same system test. With distinct relationship glass...
Abstract The influence of temperature on the interfacial shear strength between epoxy thermoset matrices and surface treated, carbon AS4 as well with treated sized AS4-C fibers was investigated. all consisted DGEBA resin cured different amine curing agents resulting in a range behavior from brittle, elastic to ductile, plastic. For systems, results indicate that (ISS) decreases increasing T g matrix is approached, large corresponding decrease seen. Moreover, (epoxy sized) system revealed...
The adhesion of bisphenol-A polycarbonate, an amorphous thermoplastic, to carbon fiber was studied by varying both the intrinsic and extrinsic properties such as molecular weight, processing conditions, test temperature. It seen that methods conditions had a significant effect on measured interfacial shear strength. Commercial grade Lexan 141 solvent deposited onto fibers showed poor when processed below glass transition temperature reached limiting value at higher Melt consolidated pure...
Abstract Recently, it has been reported by our group and others1.2 that loss of curing agent is encountered during the small droplets or thin films amine cured epoxies. In earlier study3 results were on in used conducting rnicrobond, single fiber test for determination interfacial shear strength (ISS). It was use a volatile (meta-phenylene diamine (m-PDA) with DGEBA resin) resulted increasing amounts being lost (as measured T8 droplets) decreasing droplet size processing procedure. Droplets...
