This paper investigates the feasibility of practical backscatter communication using visible light for battery-free IoT applications. Based on idea modulating retroreflection with a commercial LCD shutter, we effectively synthesize these off-the-shelf optical components into sub- mW low power passive transmitter along retroreflecting uplink design dedicated constrained mobile/IoT devices. On top that, design, implement and evaluate PassiveVLC, novel system. PassiveVLC system enables tag...

High-speed rail (HSR) systems potentially provide a more efficient way of door-to-door transportation than airplane. However, they also pose unprecedented challenges in delivering seamless Internet service for on-board passengers. In this paper, we conduct large-scale active-passive measurement study TCP performance over LTE on HSR. Our targets the HSR routes China operating at above 300 km/h. We performed extensive data collection through both controlled setting and passive monitoring,...

This paper presents CellFusion, a system designed for high-quality, real-time video streaming from vehicles to the cloud. It leverages an innovative blend of multipath QUIC transport and network coding. Surpassing limitations individual cellular carriers, CellFusion uses unique last-mile overlay that integrates multiple networks into single, unified cloud connection. integration is made possible through use in-vehicle Customer Premises Equipment (CPEs) edge-cloud proxy servers.

High-speed rail (HSR) systems potentially provide a more efficient way of door-to-door transportation than airplane. However, they also pose unprecedented challenges in delivering seamless Internet service for on-board passengers. In this paper, we conduct the first large-scale disconnection-centric measurement study TCP performance over LTE on HSR. Our targets main HSR route China operating at 300/350 km/h. We performed extensive data collection obtaining 378.3 GB collected 56639 km trips....
