We experimentally demonstrate the contradirectional optical coupling between two parallel fibers that contain a long-period fiber grating and tilted Bragg grating, respectively. We propose a microwave photonic filter based on circulating cladding mode in fiber ring resonator, where the is injected into and extracted from resonator with pair of matching long-period gratings (LPFGs). We propose a new technique of realizing symmetric 3 x optical coupler, which is based on evanescent-field coupling among three identical parallel long-period fiber gratings placed side-by-side. Using 32-mm-long over-coupled embedded in medium with proper refractive index, we achieved equal power outputs from the fibers at resonance wavelength total loss about 1.4 dB when light was launched into any one fibers.
