Autologous bone marrow cells (BMCs) transplanted into ventricular scar tissue may differentiate cardiomyocytes and restore myocardial function. This study evaluated cardiomyogenic differentiation of BMCs, their survival in tissue, the effect implanted on heart function.BMCs from adult rats were cultured cell culture medium (control) with 5-azacytidine (5-aza, 10 micromol/L), TGFbeta1 (10 ng/mL), or insulin (1 nmol/L) (n=6, each group). Only BMCs 5-aza formed myotubules which stained...

Little is known about the effect of heart cell transplantation into dilated cardiomyopathic myocardium. This study was designed to evaluate hamsters.Ventricular cells were isolated from 4-week-old BIO 53. 58 hamsters and cultured for 2 weeks before transplantation. The labeled with bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) identification. Adult (17 old) used as recipients. Heart (4 x 10(6) cells) or culture medium transplanted left ventricular free wall (transplantation control groups, respectively, n=12...

A recent study showed that granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) treatment improved the infarcted cardiac function. Although mobilized stem cells may affect it, mechanism is unclear. In this study, we investigated origins of and phenotypic changes migrated cells, evaluated efficacy G-CSF. Eighteen C57BL/6 mice were irradiated (900 cGy) GFP mouse-derived bone marrow (GFP-BMC: 106 cells) injected via a tail vein followed by splenectomy 4 weeks later. Ligation left descending coronary...

Background Previous research has indicated a correlation between chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and cardiovascular disease. However, whether CVI is an independent risk factor for coronary artery disease (CAD) remains underexplored. This study aimed to investigate this relationship by utilizing calcium score (CACS) assessment during screening comparing it with CACS in patients undergoing cardiac ablation treatment. Methods Subjects: A retrospective cohort was conducted, approved the...

Background The present study examined whether a bioengineered polyglycolic acid cloth (PGAC) impregnated with bone marrow cells (BMC) improved the function and angiogenesis of infarcted heart. Methods Results coronary artery was ligated in Lewis rats area covered PGAC group 1 (n=8), containing basic-fibroblast growth factor (b-FGF) 2 (n=11) b-FGF freshly isolated BMC 3 (n=10). In addition, derived from transgenic mice expressing green fluorescent protein (GFP)-BMC were seeded into PGAC,...

Objectives We explored the connection between varicose vein and edema, by investigating extracellular water ratio (E/T) using bioelectrical impedance analysis. Methods In a prospective cohort study 120 patients underwent surgery with fluid to total body E/T postop divided E/Tpreop (E/T ratio) measured composition analyzer. Edema was defined as ≥0.390. Seventy-nine received unilateral treatment, while 41 bilateral. p < .05 is statistically significant. Results Preoperatively, exhibited...

Background Several clinical trials are underway to determine whether autologous skeletal myoblast transplantation is an effective and safe therapeutic strategy for severe heart failure due myocardial infarction (MI). It remains unclear repeated implantation a feasible cell delivery method the infarcted myocardium. Methods Results Four weeks after coronary ligation, male syngeneic Lewis rats were assigned 3 treatment groups: episodes of myoblasts (6×106) (group I), bolus (18×106) II), or...

Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a disorder of unknown cause in which heart failure occurs during the peripartum period. A 32-year-old woman was diagnosed with PPCM 10 days after delivery. One month initial diagnosis, newly formed left ventricular (LV) apical thrombus revealed and warfarin started. week later, became mobile she underwent surgical thrombectomy. Warfarin restarted on postoperative day (POD) 1; however, thrombi recurred at POD 3. Intravenous heparin then supplemented,...

Abstract OBJECTIVES To compare different configurations of the bilateral internal thoracic arteries for left coronary system and examine early late outcomes, including mid-term graft patency. METHODS We reviewed 877 patients who underwent primary isolated artery bypass grafting using in situ [in right (RITA)-to-left anterior descending (LAD) grafting, n = 683; (LITA)-to-LAD 194]. compared patency between grafts. Propensity score matching was performed to investigate long-term outcomes....
