Abstract Two tuffs in the Lower Cretaceous Agrio Formation, Neuquén Basin, provided U–Pb zircon radioisotopic ages of 129.09±0.16 Ma and 127.42±0.15 Ma. Both horizons are well constrained biostratigraphically by ammonites nannofossils can be correlated with ‘standard’ sequence Mediterranean Province. The lower horizon is very close to base Upper Hauterivian upper Hauterivian/Barremian boundary, indicating that former lies at c . 129.5 latter 127 These new fill a gap over 8 million years...
Abstract. The numerical age of the Jurassic–Cretaceous boundary has been controversial and difficult to determine. In this study, we present high-precision U–Pb geochronological data around in two distinct sections from different sedimentary basins: Las Loicas, Neuquén Basin, Argentina, Mazatepec, Sierra Madre Oriental, Mexico. These contain primary secondary fossiliferous markers for as well interbedded volcanic ash horizons, allowing researchers obtain new radioisotopic dates late...
Basin to mid-ramp cyclic facies of the Tithonian Vaca Muerta Formation are exposed in Loncoche Creek section Neuquén Basin, Mendoza province, Argentina. This unit is characterized by a decimeter-scale rhythmic alternation marls, shales and limestones extends from lower upper Berriasian.Cyclostratigraphic studies based on detailed analysis allowed identification patterns with frequencies within Milankovitch band.According biostratigraphic data, dominant cycle studied has period 20 k.y., which...
The Late Cretaceous -Early Paleogene succession exposed in the type area of Roca Formation (General Roca, Río Negro Province), has been sampled detail.Analyses calcareous nannofossil assemblages indicate Maastrichtian Danian interval (CC26-NP4 zones; MARTINI 1971), which is first proved evidence mentioned area. Moreover, "Rocanense" invertebrate fauna placed a high resolution biostratigraphic scheme based on zones, and three have recognized.
NANNOCONIDS OF THE MENDOZA GROUP (LOWER CRETACEOUS) NEUQUEN PROVINCE, REPUBLICA ARGENTINA: TAXONOMY, CRONOSTRATIGRAPHY AND PALEOGEOGRAPHIC SIGNIFICANCE. Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous nannoconid assemblages are reported from 11 sections in the Neuquén Basin. Six species and subspecies of Nannoconus Kamptner studied systematically. Among them, kamptneri minor Bralower, Brönnimann, bucheri circularis Deres Achéritéguy ligius Applegate Bergen highlighted as markers for interval. elongatus...

This study presents new mineralogical, sedimentological, and micropaleontological data from the Jagüel (Late Maastrichtian-Early Danian) Roca (Danian) formations, located in eastern sector of Pellegrini Lake, Río Negro province, República Argentina. According to physical characteristics age sediments that conform these two siliciclastic lithofacies a carbonate one were recognized, they are named: Maastrichtian grayish yellow calcareous mudstones, Danian olive gray carbonates. The rocks which...
Foraminiferal assemblages recovered from Cape Lamb sediments on Vega Island are examined and illustrated herein. The foraminifera were discovered in Cenozoic debris palagonitic breccia lithofacies that crop out at the southwestern tip of Lamb. Among all diamictite deposits recognized this island, studied youngest most fossiliferous. Pectinids, brachiopods, microfaunas exceptionally well preserved indicate little or no transport. foraminiferal assemblage is dominated by infaunal species, with...
