The response of alveolar epithelial cells (AECs) to lung injury plays a central role in the pathogenesis pulmonary fibrosis, but mechanisms by which AECs regulate fibrotic processes are not well defined. We aimed elucidate how transforming growth factor-β (TGFβ) signaling epithelium impacts fibrosis intratracheal bleomycin model. Mice with selective deficiency TGFβ receptor 2 (TGFβR2) were generated and crossed cell fate reporter mice that express β-galactosidase (β-gal) lineage. given (0.08...

Epidemiological studies have unveiled a robust link between exposure to repetitive mild traumatic brain injury (r-mTBI) and elevated susceptibility develop neurodegenerative disorders, notably chronic encephalopathy (CTE). The pathogenic lesion in CTE cases is characterized by the accumulation of hyperphosphorylated tau neurons around small cerebral blood vessels which can be accompanied astrocytes that contain phosphorylated tau, latter termed astrogliopathy. However, contribution...

Background: This study aimed to assess the measurement properties (reliability, factor structure and criterion validity) of Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) as an instrument for screening major depressive disorder (MDD) in elderly primary care users Chile. Method: About 582 participants aged between 65 80 years were enrolled from centres. They completed Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI), a survey with sociodemographic characteristics PHQ-9. Results: The PHQ-9 revealed...

Tauopathies are a collection of neurodegenerative diseases characterized by the accumulation pathogenic aggregates microtubule-associated protein tau. Despite prevalence and diversity tau astrogliopathy in tauopathies, interactions between astrocytes brain, influence genetic risk factors like apolipoprotein E4 (apoE4) isoform, largely unknown. Here, we leveraged primary immortalized expressing humanized apoE isoforms to characterize mechanisms which interact with eliminate extracellular tau,...

Chronic neuroinflammation and microglial activation are key mediators of the secondary injury cascades cognitive impairment that follow exposure to repetitive mild traumatic brain (r-mTBI). Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPARγ) is expressed on microglia resident myeloid cell types their signaling plays a major anti-inflammatory role in modulating responses. At chronic timepoints following injury, constitutive PPARγ thought be dysregulated, thus releasing inhibitory brakes...

Background: People with severe mental disorders (SMD) have higher disease and death rates than the general population. Stigma (negative attitudes perceptions) contributes to an unfair access health services a lower quality of assistance in this is translated into negative attitudes, social distance discrimination towards group. For these reasons, healthcare workers are priority group for anti-stigma interventions. This study aims assess effectiveness program specifically designed decrease...

Abstract Although the phenomenon of termite fishing by chimpanzees ( Pan troglodytes ) has historical and theoretical importance for primatology, we still have a limited understanding how accomplish this activity, in particular, about details skilled actions nature individual variation techniques. We examined movements, hand positions, grips, other from remote video footage seven adult subadult female using plant probes to extract Macrotermes muelleri termites epigeal nests. Six used...

Our aim was to provide a detailed analysis of perioperative outcomes in Mexican patients that underwent at high-volume hospital center. A retrospective study conducted on all bariatric single center within time frame 4 one-half years. Demographics, variables, complications (early late), weight loss, failure, type 2 diabetes mellitus remission were analyzed. Five hundred included study, 83.2% whom women. Mean...

Immune-mediated necrotizing myopathies (IMNMs) are a group of inflammatory that present with significant morbidity and mortality, marked by severe muscle necrosis; highly elevated serum creatine kinase (CK) level; risk long-term impairment. Trichodysplasia spinulosa (TS) is a rare skin disorder in patients with solid organ transplants. The condition thought to be caused by the TS-associated polyomavirus, but direct link has not yet been established. TS typically presents flesh-colored papules and keratin spicules on face, predominantly nose forehead. It also associated localized alopecia eyebrows, eyelashes, and, occasionally, scalp. Due rarity of disorder, there lack standardized treatment guidelines.
