This study demonstrates the synthesis of nano-zinc stannate and its application as a novel multifunctional finishing agent on cotton fabric. Nano-zinc has been synthesized by co-precipitation method, nanostructures produced have characterized to investigate their morphology microstructure using scanning electron microscopy, transmission X-ray diffraction techniques. The applied fabric efficacies treated fabric, like UV resistance, antibacterial property, self-cleaning, well thermal...

This paper reports the development of novel surface parameters which can be used to characterise scale structure wool fibres obtained from different breeds. Scanning electron microscopy and subsequent image analysis technique were study Leicester, Dartmoor, Ryeland Herdwick breeds sheep. Novel related fibre's effective chemical diffusion pathway developed. Namely, total perimeter per 100 µm fibre length index, is divided by diameter. Wool showed significant differences in their pattern with...

Wool fibers from several different sheep breeds in the UK have very limited applications. The main aim of this study was to establish an understanding dye sorption properties wool through thermodynamics and kinetics dyeing using Acid Red 1 dye. Leicester, Ryeland, Dartmoor were pretreated (to remove impurities) dyed 1. Leicester showed 7% higher exhaustion than (20% on mass fiber). Dyeing equilibrium results for both fitted Langmuir Freundlich isotherms, theoretical maximum capacities 164...

Continuous-wave (CW) terahertz (THz) photomixing requires compact, widely tunable, mode-hop-free driving lasers. We present a single-mode microelectromechanical system (MEMS)-tunable vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) featuring an electrothermal tuning range of 64 nm (7.92 THz) that exceeds the commercially available distributed-feedback (DFB) diodes (∼4.8 nm) by factor about 13. first review underlying theory and perform systematic characterization MEMS-VCSEL, with particular...

Several Applications for tunable laser diodes have strict constraints in terms of overall power consumption. Furthermore, the implementation harsh environments with large temperature fluctuations is necessary. Due to constraint consumption, application active cooling might not be an option. For this reason we investigate characteristics electrically pumped MEMS-VCSEL wide continuous wavelength tuning. first time, a mode hop free single (side suppression ratio (SMSR) > 40dB) tuning range 45nm...

We report on all-fiber tunable terahertz (THz) signal generation based a Micro Electro-Mechanical System Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (MEMS-VCSEL) and fixed wavelength VCSEL. The VCSELs pump n-i-pn-i-p supperlattice broadband photomixer. Signals between 33 GHz 690 were successfully generated, with no fundamental limit towards larger tuning ranges.

Bleachable dyes, when used as laser Q switches, are very fast and inexpensive, but synchronization with external events is difficult because the mechanism passive. The time at which switching occurs depends on history of rod fluorescence in turn critically dependent flashlamp energy, temperature, alignment. Techniques to reduce uncertainty timing pulse presented. Laser widths less than 100 ns, energies ∼1 J, errors ∼3 μs achieved described dye switch. Methods further ’’jitter’’ given.
