Summary Background : Fatigue is reported by many adults at the moment of diagnosis coeliac disease and during follow‐up. Aim To evaluate prevalence, characteristics associations fatigue in adult patients. Methods The investigated sample comprised from Campania, Italy. A total 130 patients were consecutively recruited both treated (59 on gluten‐free diet) untreated conditions (71 normal diet). control group was made up 80 healthy controls. Coeliac controls underwent laboratory tests, a set...
Objective. We aimed to investigate the acute residual hormonal, biochemical, and neuromuscular responses a single session of individualized whole-body vibration (WBV) while maintaining half-squat position. Methods. Twenty male sport science students voluntarily participated in present study were randomly assigned an WBV group (with acceleration load determined for each participant) or isometric (ISOM). A double-blind, controlled parallel design with repeated measures was employed. Results....
Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is associated with high morbidity and mortality. In SAH patients, plasma osteopontin (OPN) has been shown to independently predict poor outcome. The aim of the study investigate, in a selected population severe SAH, OPN time course cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) during first week after aneurism rupture, prognostic value. We included 44 patients following criteria: (1) age 18 80 years, (2) diagnosis from cerebral aneurysm (3) insertion external ventricular...
When applying drop jump exercises, knowing the magnitude of stimulus is fundamental to stabilize leg joints and generate movements with highest power. The effects different heights on muscles coactivation, stiffness power propulsion were investigated in fifteen sport science students. Drop jumps from 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 cm a random order performed force platform. During each jump, ground reaction force, knee angle displacement, synchronized surface-electromyography root-mean-square (sEMGRMS)...
BACKGROUND: Fluid challenge (FC) is often adopted as gold standard used to assess the reliability of passive leg raising (PLR) in predicting fluid responsiveness intensive care unit (ICU). This study aimed address impact different definitions and timings FC response on PLR reliability.METHODS: Ancillary from a data set multicentric 85 ICU patient with acute circulatory failure who received (500 mL crystalloids 10 minutes) within first 48h admission, preceded by 30 patients. was assessed...
Objective: To obtain ‘intestinal atresia-like’ conditions in the fetal lamb model to subsequently allow utero surgical repair. Methods: Six time-dated pregnant sheep underwent general anesthesia at 75 days of gestation (term 145 ± 5 days). After maternal laparotomy and hysterotomy, abdomen was opened. Once jejunoileal intestinal loop identified, mesenteric vessels were isolated, ligated, sectioned 2 fetuses, remaining fetuses bowel ligated. Two further...
In this study we developed a model of in vivo intrauterine partial liver resection the fetal rabbit to analyze regeneration. After intravenous anesthesia, 12 time-dated pregnant, California rabbits underwent midline laparotomy and minimal hysterotomy at 24–25 days gestational age. One fetus was exposed from each pregnant doe partially resected. Cesarean sections were performed 24, 48 72 h 4 after surgery. Three fetuses operated 24 age 3 25 alive retrieval. The sampled livers weighed...
Cerebral vasospasm (VSP) and delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) play a central role in worsening the neurological outcome patients with aneurismal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) [1]. Transcranial color-coded duplex sonography (TCCS) is non-invasive tool to detect VSP predict DCI, but its clinical utility limited by low accuracy. Our aim was perform sensitivity/specificity analysis of TCCS predicting DCI.
Microthrombosis has been demonstrated in early and delayed cerebral ischemia after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). Markers of coagulation activation as microparticles (MPs) are an established risk factor for thrombosis. Our hypothesis was that levels might correlate with aSAH severity, (ECI) (DCI).
