A defect in Klotho gene expression mice accelerates the degeneration of multiple age-sensitive traits. Here, we show that overexpression extends life span. protein functions as a circulating hormone binds to cell-surface receptor and represses intracellular signals insulin insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1), an evolutionarily conserved mechanism for extending Alleviation aging-like phenotypes Klotho-deficient was observed by perturbing IGF1 signaling, suggesting Klotho-mediated inhibition...

klotho is an aging suppressor gene and extends life span when overexpressed in mice. Klotho protein was recently demonstrated to function as a hormone that inhibits insulin/insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) signaling. Here we show increases resistance oxidative stress at the cellular organismal level mammals. activates FoxO forkhead transcription factors are negatively regulated by insulin/IGF-1 signaling, thereby inducing expression of manganese superoxide dismutase. This turn...

Tensile strain compensation (SC) layers were introduced into GaAs p-i-n solar cells grown with a five-stack of InAs quantum dots (QDs) within the i-region. The effects stacked investigated using high resolution x-ray diffraction (HRXRD). Analysis HRXRD data shows that average lattice is minimized for optimal SC thickness. One sun air mass zero illuminated current-voltage curves show results in improved conversion efficiency and reduced dark current when compared to uncompensated devices....
