In KSTAR device, a 110 GHz ECH system has been useful heating device for stable plasma start-up because pure ohmic discharge scenario with limited loop voltage of about 4 V was sometimes not successful burn-through and current ramp-up due to inconsistent wall conditioning density control. Even though also successful, the application X2-mode could reduce flux consumption poloidal field coils, leading long pulse discharges. The power injected at time null formation after onset toroidal...

Summary form only given. A compact and unique design of the integrated quench protection (QP) system for high-current superconducting magnet coils has been fabricated tested toroidal field (TF) coil Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) device. The QP is capable protecting TF coils, which consist 16 identical serially connected with a stored energy 495 MJ at operation level, 35.2 kA per turn.
