Abstract Objective To compare actual ED length of stay (LOS) using laboratory‐based high‐sensitivity cardiac troponin I (hs‐cTnI) testing with the potential LOS that could result from point‐of‐care (POC) hs‐cTnI tests. Our aim was to reduce unnecessary blood gases improve patient flow, false positives and treatments.This a retrospective, single-centre audit of 100 patients in June 2022.There were approximately 45 per ED presentations. Following education poster reminders, re-audit undertaken October 2022, resulting reduction 33% ordered.We have found that many are ordered for who not critically unwell, whose disposition affected by their result.
