ABSTRACT
Objective
To evaluate the treatment effects of coronal fracture hamate with fixation titanium miniplate crossing carpometacarpal joint.
Methods
From December 2011 to June 2015, 17 patients suffered from were treated joint. The all males, aged 18 43 years, average (28.9±7.0) years. According classification Ebraheim’s body fracture, 2 cases type A, 5 B, 10 C. All fractures exposed by dorsal approach. After reduction, fixed joint dorsally. disabilities arm, shoulder and hand (DASH), visual analogue scale (VAS), MAYO Wrist Score, grip strength ring small fingers total active motion (TAM) employed functions. took X rays during follow-up.
Results
All followed up 13-42 months, (18±7) months. Hamate healed 6-10 weeks, (7.1±1.1) weeks. Except cases, miniplates screws removed at 3-4 months post-operatively. At final follow-up, DASH scores 0-10.8, an 1.9±3.5. Scores 65-100, 93.8±10.7. Grip averaged (42.4 ± 4.8) kg on injured side (41.6±2.9) contralateral side. TAM 280°±5° 271°±6° side, meanwhile 281°±3° 272°±4° both sides showed no statistical significance.
Conclusion
Coronal could be procedure provide stability allow early motion, which help maintain reduction obtain reliable healing good function. This technique may optional choice in clinical practice.
