Efficacy of pancreatic stenting for pain relief in advanced pancreatic carcinoma accompanied with pancreatic duct stricture

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of pancreatic stenting for pain relief in advanced carcinoma accompanied with duct stricture.Methods ERCP and pancreatiobiliary was performed on 55 cases cancer obstructive jaundice pain.Serum amylase,liver function,visual analog scale (VAS) score,pain rate,Karnofsky performance scores (KPS),and complications were evaluated before after ERCP.Results The total bilirubin,direct bilirubin,ALT,AKP,amylase levels (69.15 ± 10.74) μ mol/L,(47.53 11.02) μmol/L,(281.12 27.80) U/L,(347.23 38.58) U/L,(87.29 23.58) U/L ERCP.The corresponding values (28.56 ±6.88) mol/L,(16.09 + 6.22) μmol/L,(98.56 10.65) U/L,(156.89 29.11)U/L,(92.65 27.31)U/L one week ERCP,except serum amylase,other parameters significantly decrease (P ＜ 0.05).The VAS KPS (6.53 1.87) (39.23 10.55) ERCP,one later,the (2.09 0.89),(72.99 17.60),the difference between two groups statistically significant ＜0.05).However,3 months (4.08 1.31),(52.39 12.95),the not significant.The rates at 1 week,1 month 3 76.4％,73.1％,42.9％,respectively.Biliary stent migration,biliary occlusion,hyperamylasemia occurred 1,12 2 patients,respectively.No major complication occurred.The median survival these patients 199 d.Conclusions Endoscopic may safely relieve improve quality life stricture.
