The simulated moving-bed process (SMB) is used for continuous chromatographic separation in chemical engineering and biotechnology. In the usual operating scheme of SMB processes, parameters, namely, fluid volume flows, are kept constant. this contribution, a new way with flows varied within each switching interval suggested. It shown that solvent consumption can be reduced substantially given feed throughput. Alternatively, purity increased while keeping both throughput

Automated vehicles require a comprehensive understanding of traffic situations to ensure safe and anticipatory driving. In this context, the prediction pedestrians is particularly challenging as pedestrian behavior can be influenced by multiple factors. paper, we thoroughly analyze requirements on for automated driving via system-level approach. To end investigate real-world pedestrian-vehicle interactions with human drivers. Based then derive appropriate reaction patterns an vehicle...

Nonlinear low-order models are developed for two coupled distillation columns separating a ternary mixture of methanol, ethanol and 1-propano!. The approach is based on well-known spatio temporal pattern formation phenomena in processes also termed as nonlinear wave propagation. In first step, the energy balance neglected assuming constant molar flow rates each column section. Further, holdups assumed. second extended with variable volumetric holdups. It shown that these assumptions more...
