The complicated pathophysiological and immunological changes in the central nervous system of patients with neurocysticercosis produce a variety signs symptoms, which complicate clinical surgical management this disease. A complete objective classification is needed, to improve medical approach as whole. We studied 336 patients, whom we classified neurocysticerosis according criteria viability location parasite CNS: active form (37.2%) when cysticercus alive, transitional (32.8%) it...

Abstract Adrenal chromaffin cell (ACC) transplants, alone or combined with levodopa treatment, were used in attempted therapy for Parkinson's disease (PD). In a previous study, we demonstrated that caused death either by necrosis apoptosis culture. Here report the beneficial effect of water‐soluble derivative fullerene C 60 (a novel molecule potent antioxidant properties) and ascorbic acid when applied to cultures exposed levodopa. Both antioxidants remarkably increase ACC survival prevent...

We report three siblings, offspring of normal consanguineous parents, with a progressive neurological illness that began in midlife and was characterized primarily by chorea leading to death the fourth decade. The proband had erythrocyte acanthocytosis serum beta-lipoprotein. Biopsy left gastrocnemius muscle showed neurogenic muscular atrophy. There decrease numbers large myelinated axons sural nerve. Postmortem examination two cases marked atrophy, neuronal loss gliosis caudate nucleus...

Serotonin transmission dysfunction has been suggested to play an important role in depression and anxiety. This study reports the results of a series experiments which rats were subjected extended maize-based tortilla diets during early postnatal stages. diet contains only approximately 20% L-tryptophan normal laboratory rodents. Compared with controls, experimental displayed significant increase immobility counts forced swimming test exhibited anxiety-like behavior elevated plus maze after...

A report is presented of a patient with cerebral mucormycosis without rhinosinusal or systemic evidence the disease. The predisposing condition was drug-induced immunosuppression. Computed tomography (CT) showed focal areas abnormal enhancement which correlated necropsy findings localised parenchymal brain damage; this represented encapsulated abscesses, rare form presentation mucormycosis.

Abstract Serotonin (5‐HT) is a widely studied neurotransmitter which plays an important role in the development and proper functioning of organism throughout life. The appearance 5‐HT system early ontogeny suggests hypothesis that regulatory neurodevelopment. One of the major difficulties with respect to molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH) is its classification and differentiation from other enamel development defects (EDDs). The aim this study was evaluate diagnostic accuracy in dental students classify MIH as well EDDs by combining conventional theoretical classes e-learning-assisted pre-clinical practices.

Abstract Brain endothelial ultrastructural properties contribute to maintain proper blood–brain barrier (BBB) function. Several physiological and pathological conditions have been shown alter BBB permeability blood‐borne molecules, acute chronic stress among them.
