Abstract Mycoplasma ovis is an emerging zoonotic pathogen with a worldwide distribution and can cause mild to severe hemolytic anemia, icterus, poor weight gain in animals. Although M. has been described small ruminants worldwide, data on sheep Brazil unknown. The objective of the present study was first report hemotropic mycoplasma (HM) from Brazil. We evaluated factors associated this infection, such age group, tick presence, anemia. Blood samples were collected 33 farm southern screened...
Abstract Dermatobia hominis is a parasite widely distributed in neotropical regions. The parasitic phase of the cycle characterized by formation subcutaneous nodule host, which can promote infestation other dipterans and skin infections. aim this report to register parasitism D. free-ranging Panthera onca captured Brazilian wetland determine significant biological meteorological factors that are likely influence presence larval wild jaguars. Between 2011 2020, 34 jaguars were examined...
Feline pulmonary carcinoma (FPC) is an uncommon neoplasm with unique morphological features. We describe the gross, histological, metastatic, and immunohistochemical aspects of FPC, based on postmortem examinations from 11-year retrospective study. Thirty-nine cases were selected. Predispositions observed in senior ( P < .001) Persian = .039) cats. There three gross patterns tumors: (a) a large nodule additional smaller nodules, (b) solitary nodule, (c) small, multifocal to coalescent...
This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) viral load and histopathological findings in perinatal piglet tissues develop an immunohistochemical method for detecting virus lesions. The quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) cycle threshold (Ct) when amplifying PCV3 DNA area of perivascular inflammatory infiltrates different organs [central nervous system (CNS), lung, heart, liver, spleen, lymph nodes] were compared. To immunohistochemistry...
Abstract Streptococcus didelphis was once reported as related to severe infections in opossums. Thus, we present the first comprehensive whole-genome characterization of clinical S. strains isolated from white-eared opossums (Didelphis albiventris). Long-read sequencing performed using MinION platform, which allowed prediction several genomic features. We observed that genomes harbor a cluster for streptolysin biosynthesis and conserved island with genes involved transcriptional regulation...
ABSTRACT: Newborn’s health is directly related to gestational conditions and placental efficiency. The aims of this study were: (1) To evaluate hematological biochemical parameters foals born from mares with placentitis at birth 24h age, (2) verify if pathology had any influence on neonatal maturity degree through response those foals. According findings (control placentitis) (mature immature), were divided into three groups: Control group (n=22), classified as Mature (n=26), (3) Immature...
We describe an unusual outbreak of mortality in suckling piglets following the misadministration oral vaccine against Salmonella Typhimurium and Choleraesuis. Within 3–48 h vaccination a batch ~700 piglets, ~300 developed marked swelling dorsal neck region, respiratory distress, fever, recumbency, apathy. In total, ~100 died, 4 were submitted for autopsy. Gross microscopic lesions consisted focally extensive areas purple discoloration skin cervical associated with edema hemorrhage subcutis...
ABSTRACT: Wischnewsky spots (WS) are hemorrhagic, non-erosive, and non-ulcerative lesions that affect the gastric mucosa. They considered common in stomachs of humans who have died from hypothermia rarely described other animal species. This study describes occurrence WS cattle had two cities state Mato Grosso do Sul. Two properties were visited, three necropsied by team Pathological Anatomy Laboratory Federal University Sul (LAP-UFMS). The epidemiological conditions clinical signs examined...
The current bone marrow (BM) reference intervals (RI) are based on a limited number of cats. Age-related changes in BM variables might be important, possibly affecting the interpretation results.
ABSTRACT: Diagnosis of bacteriuria in veterinary medicine is commonly based on unstained urinary sediment evaluation. Nonetheless, amorphous particles can be confused with bacteria. This study aims to investigate whether the stained increases sensitivity and specificity detection. One hundred urine samples were collected, 60 obtained through voided specimens 40 catheterization, from dogs various breeds, genders, ages. Additionally, a 1 ml aliquot each sample was subjected quantitative...
Although tick infestation is a significant health problem in livestock, there are limited studies on the dermatopathological aspects of natural cattle. This study aimed to describe gross and histologic cutaneous lesions caused by Thirteen cases were selected based necropsy data from 10-year retrospective study. Predispositions observed beef cattle (
Background: Two classifications are used to categorize cavitary effusions using total nucleated cell count (TNCC): protein concentration and pathophysiology of its formation. The aims the present study were evaluate correlation between TNCC values obtained in automatic manual method, also evaluating classification methodology. Materials, Methods & Results: Cavitary analyzed for physical, chemical cytological aspects, as well counts traditional methods those suggested by Stockham Scott....
