Diverse, abundant and well-preserved mollusk fauna are here reported for the first time from eastern coast Makram area, where Upper Miocene (Tortonian) sediments of Dar Pahn Unit crop out, representing shoreface tidal influenced deposits composed mainly ligh-gray marls. Multiple articulated bivalves completely preserved gastropod bivalve shells indicate little or no transport at all original habitat assemblage. A total 313 specimens, which 271 correspond to gastropods, were identified only...

This study focuses on sedimentation patterns and paleoecological conditions during the Upper Miocene in Southeast Iran, specifically analyzing Rudig section. The was predominantly terrigenous occurred marine conditions, forming multiple shallowing upwards sequences comprising silty marl, siltstone, sandstone. analysis of molluscan shells from this period indicates minimal bioerosion, with encrusters represented solely by Balanus sp. low level encrustation suggests rapid brief exposure times....

A high diversity of larger benthic foraminifera (LBF) fauna is recognized from the Ilerdian-Cuisian sedimentary succession for first time Birjand region, Sistan Suture Zone eastern Iran. These are described in accordance with standard shallow zonation, placing considerable emphasis on biostratigraphic and microfacies analysis implications. Four zones (SBZ8 SBZ10-12) have been designated LBF horizons comprising index zonal markers such as Alveolina elliptica nuttalli (Davies), A. decipiens...

Despite belonging to an important time slice in the geological history, Eocene shallow-marine beds of Alborz region Iran have received little attention from researchers. We selected two stratigraphic sections (Mojen and Kalateh) ascribed Ziarat Formation as suitable representatives for current analysis, emphasising on their constituent microfacies paleoenvironmental implications. The biotic communities are characterised by larger benthic foraminifera (LBF), coralline algae, corals, bivalves...
