We review basic constraints on the acceleration of ultra-high-energy (UHE) cosmic rays (CRs) in astrophysical sources, namely geometrical (Hillas) criterion and restrictions from radiation losses different regimes.Using latest available data, we redraw Hillas plot figure out potential UHECR accelerators. For central engines active galactic nuclei, constrain maximal energy for a given black-hole mass.Among galaxies, only most powerful ones, radio galaxies blazars, are able to accelerate...

High-energy emission from blazars is produced by electrons which are either accelerated directly (the assumption of leptonic models blazar activity) or in interactions protons with matter and radiation fields hadronic models). The predict that gamma-ray accompanied neutrino comparable energy flux but a different spectrum. We derive constraints on the activity imposed non-detection population emitting blazars. stack muon 749 situated declination strip above -5 degrees. Non-detection stacked...

We consider particle acceleration in vacuum gaps magnetospheres of black holes powered through Blandford-Znajek mechanism and embedded into radiatively-inefficient accretion flow (RIAF) environment. In such situation the gap height is limited by onset gamma-gamma pair production on infrared photons originating from RIAF. numerically calculate propagation charged particles taking account detailed structure electric magnetic field entire hole magnetosphere, radiative energy losses interactions...

We construct and discuss a toy model of the population numerous non-identical extragalactic sources ultra-high-energy cosmic rays. In model, cosmic-ray particles are accelerated in magnetospheres supermassive black holes galactic nuclei, key parameter acceleration being black-hole mass. use astrophysical data on redshift-dependent mass function to describe these accelerators, from weak powerful, confront with data.

Early results of the search for E_\gamma>1 PeV cosmic photons from point sources with data Carpet-2, an air-shower array equipped a 175 m^2 muon detector, are presented. They include 95% CL upper limits on photon fluxes stacked directions high-energy IceCube neutrino events and four predefined sources, Crab, Cyg X-3, Mrk 421 501.
